Well I thought I had a second guest when I booked this trip. I jumped the gun because I didn't want to lose out on free dining.
So here I sit with a ten day trip (Nov.11-21), staying at the AKL with a couple dining reservations and no second person. The deadline is coming quickly and I can't decide.
Do I
A) Remove the second guest and make this my first Solo trip ever?

B) Cancel the trip entirely and lose out on free dining?

C) Find someone off here or social media to split the cost.

The room is one of the Queen size beds with a bunk bed.
Just really torn on the best choice for this.

Input, thoughts, laughter. Anything is welcome.

Don't worry about losing free dining. It's just a discount, not a freebie. If you don't mind going solo, go solo. I'd be nervous about shacking up with a stranger for 10 days.

Definitely choice A! Walk on the wild side. (Couldn't help it, you're staying at AKL!) If I could get 10 days off work I would be that person who invites themself.

No contest-A. Canceling is no fun...and sharing with a stranger...could be good...could lead to a movie of the week. Best not risk that... You do not get to pick who plays you in the movie. ;) Solo trips are fun-go, enjoy!

I agree with DavedMaine and the other posters. Also you may be able to find people from the DIS to meet up with you for some of the meals. I'll just miss you, as I'm there Oct. 22-Nov. 2, but you can probably find others who will be there at that time.

Valid point about 10 days is a long time. Lol

I'm not opposed to Solo, it just seems a bit intimidating as it would be my first ever Solo trip.

I see so many of y'all doing it, it obviously isn't that bad. I just need to break outside that shell I guess?

Thank you for all the input :)

Hey it's Disney! With all the characters there you'll never be alone. :)

I say go by yourself and have some fun. You never know who you might meet.

I dream of my first solo Disney trip! I would say as long as you are comfortable with the costs go for it. 10 days is a lot but fortunately there is also a lot to do!

But if you go he stranger route...I volunteer as tribute.

And with one person having basically all the credits of two on the dining plan, think of all the places you would be able to eat.

I would be hesitant to have a stranger with me in my room, so if I were you, I'd keep the room for myself and try to meet some people from the DIS during the day and for meals on the dining plan.

Have fun :)

I found myself in EXACTLY the same boat this year! My second person backed out on me. I went with Option A. :goodvibes

A part of me is a little nervous to be going solo, but a much bigger part is just SUPER EXCITED! To get to do what I want, when I want... without worrying if my companion is having a good time... I'm actually REALLY looking forward to this trip!

GO! Have a great time! Drink it all in, take your time, wake up when you want, call it a night when you want, take breaks when you want (or none at all!), and just enjoy! :cutie:

Assuming you don't have any other close acquaintances to take the spot of person 2, I would definitely suggest option A. I have never taken a solo trip so I completely understand the uncertainty of going by yourself. I am the type that can't even go to a movie by myself but so many other people on this board go solo and love it and in your shoes I would take the plunge. Perhaps you can find a few other solo travelers to meet up for a dinner or a few hours of park time if you are worried about being lonely. I hope you end up going. I would hate for you to miss a Disney trip because someone dropped out of your plans.

Having the same dilemma. I'm 28 days out from a 8 night at CBR. Now the hubby cannot go. Have ADRs, FP#, MNSSHP for 2. Called Disney today for my options. Cancel? go alone? reschedule for another time? After talking to them i decide to go anyway, alone. She took him off my reservation and i am now getting $400 back. She asked me if i still wanted to keep the "celebration" (37th anniversary) hahaha kind of hard to celebrate that alone! :rotfl:
Its kind of intimidating to go it alone but hell, i need a vacation and what better place to have one. So if you see me alone, at MNSSHP, wearing a pumpkin shirt, wave and say hello! :goodvibes

Which MNSSHP? I'll be there solo on 9/21! Also in a bright orange shirt! :woohoo:

I had the opportunity to go February 2014 and a bunch of friends all said they were interested but no one was coming through with a date to go, so I just booked and figured I would add on later. Well as time passed and no one was serious enough, I went SOLO. It was the best vacation I've ever been on. Granted it wasn't 10 days, but I wish it was. I had a day that was hard/lonely but worked my way through it and did what I wanted when I wanted and how I wanted. It was so special and wonderful. I was considering going again but my husband saw I had too much of a good time alone so he insisted he would come with me this time. :rotfl:

We will probably have some Solo time at some point now that I'm brave enough to do that, but if not and he remains fun, then I'll let him hang with me. :rotfl2:

The only time I felt a little uncomfortable was at night. I didn't like walking alone but for the most part there are so many people around you aren't alone. And there are a lot of friendly people, and some are jealous when you admit you are alone. giggles.

I would not want someone I didn't know staying in my room. If you can afford the room, go alone. Too many weirdos out there and if you don't hit it off you could end up with a miserable 10 days.....or a movie......ya go Solo!!!

:dance3:

And the resorts are respectful.
I also found the characters loved hamming it up when they realize you are alone. The CMs with the characters are really extra friendly too.

Did I mention you should go Solo?
Really it's special. And may I also recommend that you go to one of the SPAs. They are expensive but that is because they are more than just a pedicure or massage. Call the spa before you leave and ask them about what the price includes. I didn't know and showed up just in time for my appointment but there was some super relaxation areas I missed out on.

Good luck and have a blast!!!!:woohoo:

as most people have said, go option A. you'll be surprised how much fun you can have in the parks by yourself. you can do all those things that you want to do without having to compromise!! play sorcerers of the magic kingdom which is an interactive game played throughout the magic kingdom, I know I would never get any of my friends to play it so I spend one day of my vacation (I'm there for 5-10 each trip) and just play the game. you can eat anywhere (assuming you're comfortable eating alone) even do a dessert party. I even get pictures with characters alone...you'd be surprised how many people you will meet and talk to when you travel alone. Go for it!! take the plunge and enjoy the magic in your own way! good luck and we want to hear all about when you get back!

Everyone should solo at least ONCE in their lives. New experience for you. ENJOY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
