Couple days ago, my left knee started feeling tight. Wouldn't bend all that well, and putting weight on it hurt...Progressed a couple of days getting worse. To the point where I couldn't straighten it all the way. and bending more than just a little- was not good. It felt like it was going to snap, that it had run out of room, light a tight rubberband. I did not do anything that I can remember causing any sort of trauma to the knee.

Back in high school I tore my ACL in my right knee, and had surgery to correct that. This feeling, wasn't the same as that one. Totally stumped me.

As the day went on, it got worse. Finally about 6pm I decided I needed an X-ray, so off to the ER I went. The Doc felt it was torn meniscus, due to the location of the pain, and the issue's I have. Went down to Xray and no bone trauma, which is good. The feeling of snapping, is from the fluid on my knee, from the tear. LOVELY.....

So now I'm in a brace, from my hip to my ankle for the next couple of weeks. I have to call Monday to the Ortho, and have an MRI of my knee in his office to make sure its not ligament damage...the Meniscus should 'heal' on its own in 4-6 weeks. But until then, I'm on a restricted level of activity.

Lets just say, 2 flights of stairs to get to my apartment with a full leg brace is not fun!

Something similar happand to me but mine was from running. It was not as "major" as it could have been, so no surgery was needed.
I did however go to physical thearpy three times a week for 6 weeks.
I did heal nicely.
A parent from my dd travel soccer team had the same thing happand but needed surgery because hers was extensive.
Good luck. And the steps may prove to be a problem if you have surgery, if just physical thearpy steps were part of my recovery exercises.
Hope you feel better!

Oh, I feel your pain! I tore my meniscus last year, and after trying to avoid surgery I finally had to have it repaired last August. Unfortunately, I had way more damage that what we thought. My Doc said my running days were over :worried:

So, I hope that your tear is one that will repair on its own. Sending loads of pixie dust :wizard:

Ouch! My younger brother had surgery 2 years ago to repair his torn ACL and meniscus. He was fine afterwards and then last month he was in extreme pain again. He went to the Dr and it turned out one of the screws from the last surgery knocked loose and was floating around his knee. He needed another surgery 2 wks ago. I certainly can sympathize with your pain! :sad2:
