Last year we stayed at Wilderness Lodge in a courtyard view and the year before at Beach Club in a garden view room. Both rooms were close to the lobby, food and pools. I have a reservation for the end of October into November for six nights in a standard view room at the Beach Club. I find myself going back and forth between wanting to keep this reservation, so I can stay in the recently refurbished rooms, to wanting to go back to Wilderness Lodge for it's close proximity to Magic Kingdom and being able to take the boats there. We visit all four parks each trip, but spend more time at MK than the others. I have almost an equal list of reasons I love both resorts and am having a serious struggle trying to decide which one we should stay at. I've never had a standard view room at either, but the view never was a big deal because we were never in the rooms long enough for it to matter. We used the rooms to shower and sleep. If I did change the reservation to WL I'd probably get a standard view room to save on the cost. I was hoping those of you who have stayed in the standard views at either of these resorts would post pictures and offer advice. Any information on the locations of the standard view rooms at BC or WL and your experience in them would be greatly appreciated. It wouldn't be much difference in the cost to upgrade from a standard view to a garden view room at BC or take a courtyard view at the WL instead of the BC room, so I'd like to know why you would recommend it if you think I should. Unless it makes a real difference in the quality of our stay I'd like to spend that money doing other things with my grandchildren. I would hate to have regrets at not bumping it up if it really makes a difference though. The construction going on at WL does concern me a little, however I read a post from someone who said it didn't cause any significant problems during their recent trip. Hoping you can help to tip the scale one way or the other. Thinking about this is driving me nuts and I can't seem to make a decision. HELP!

Did you know that the WL is undergoing a major construction project right now? They are adding a bunch of DVC Bungalows on the water and the South Wing is closed off. Rumor is they are converting the rooms in the South Wing to DVC rooms. The beach is closed so no nightly campfire or outdoor movies. And the Leisure pool by the Villas is also tore up. Just something to keep in mind.

This thread has much more details plus pictures.

The construction at the WL is MAJOR. I cannot imagine spending Disney prices on a resort undergoing such major construction, and with so many amenities unavailable. We went over there to look around when we were there in November, and the construction is obvious. No brainer. Stay at the BC.

We do not stay standard anywhere but the GF bc their standard view is garden view. I detest looking at rooftops, parking areas, and service areas. So we always book at least a garden view. My mother stayed standard at WL for 4 nights, and she overlooked service areas, but fortunately was on the 6th floor so she had trees to look at as well.

I would definitely stay at BC with the major construction going on at WL. With a Standard view room you will have a view of a roof top or parking area. I personally would upgrade to a garden view room.
Good Luck.

I agree with PPs. There is major construction at WL and for that reason alone I would say BC for this trip. Not sure if you have checked any other resorts but given that your favorite resort is under construction perhaps this is a great opportunity to try a new resort.

I agree with everyone above. But I'll throw something else out there for consideration: Since you are just at the room to shower and sleep and spend more time at MK than the other parks, take a look at CR wing room. It would be a larger standard room than at WL and BC and you'd be in walking distance to MK. The theme obviously is very different from what you're used to at WL and BC, but the biggest perk is that walking path to MK.

The BC is our favorite resort, so I'm not trying to steer you away from it...I'm just putting another option out there that might fit your family's needs. When we stay at BC, we definitely plan a lot of resort time as there is so much to do in that area. However, while staying at CR, we plan a lot of park time and enjoy the convenience of being so close to MK.

We fell in love with the WL as well on our last visit. However, the amount of money you pay for these hotels you want them to be perfect. I think the construction would be pretty annoying. Also, I don't think the discount is large enough to suck it up and still stay there. We are staying at the Poly in June and really excited to try something new.

I may not be much help, but in August 2015 we had a standard room booked at WL, and in October 2015 a standard room at the BC. Both times we were upgraded! Woods view at WL, and garden at BC. However, even the woods view was looking over a swampy pond and the garden view was just the top of trees, not much garden lol. If I ever stay at WL again we will book a courtyard view and if I ever stay at the BC again, I'll book a water/pool view.

If you can't choose which resort, you can always book a split. We are probably going to do that this fall.

Thanks for helping me decide to stay at Beach Club and I'll probably bump up the view to garden. :)
I am looking forward to staying in one of those refurbished rooms.

We had a standard view room at BC over the holidays. We did look over a roof and had one of the peeks standing in our view at the end of the roof. But...we could see a bit of the pool and the higher fireworks from HS. The room had a full balcony which I used a lot because it ended up feeling very private. We had only stayed in a LV there prior but would stay in the SV room again no problem. The new rooms are beautiful. Full disclosure-BC is our favorite resort and would choose it over any others so I'm biased!

People sure do love the pool at Beach Club, especially kids. :earsboy:
