I recently booked my first trip to UO for Sept 10 - Sept 17. (Which I am hoping is before HHN as I HATE being scared.) I am currently staying at Cabana Bay in a Volcano View room. I like the price and the idea of the view, since it's not open, I can't tell if it's a good view or now.

I am going solo for most of the trip, and will probably have a friend with me for 2 days.

I am torn between going for a deluxe JUST to get the unlimited EP and staying where I am. A deluxe adds about $400 to my trip. Plus, the second week of September is rated at low crowds....

To be honest, I really only use the hotel room for sleeping. I am not much of a resort person when there are rides to ride, although I will use the lazy river at CBBR.

I am also going one day to Busch Gardens and one night to MNSSHP.

Any thoughts? I know I will have a good time regardless of my choice.

You don't have to go to HHN just because you're there. They have structures up during the day but the most they are is slightly eerie in the broad daylight. Nothing scary.

I always go deluxe. So I'm of no help. :)

We always go deluxe hotel to get unlimited express for 4 people. Since most of your trip will be solo, I'd save the cash and use the single rider lines. Those lines are almost as good (and sometimes better) than express lines. Have a great trip!

Thank you, tho :) I know the structures are up, but don't they have characters walking around during the day? I'm also afraid I would hurt a cast member because sometimes I tend to punch when I get scared!

Stay where you are - you'll be fine. Sounds like a great trip!

Yeah, the more I think about it, the better staying at CBBR sounds. I'm just SO used to planning FP's and I always get a Flash Pass at Six Flags.. but those places tend to not have single rider lines.

Deluxe hotels are great if you have at least two people and you know you want EPs for 2 or more days...the time that you are there solo, save the deluxe money and do CB...if you find that it is busy enough and want an EP, then you can still pick one up each day you want one...don't buy in adavnce. But, I agree that the single rider lines (not available on all rides or at all times) are great.

Since this is your first trip, and mostly solo, take the time to go through the regular queues at most rides, at least once, because there is a lot to experience going through the regular queue that you will miss going through either single rider or EP queues.

Get the app to know when wait times are lowest on each ride.

Yeah, I need to get the app, definitely. This isn't my first time at UO, it's just my first full OU vacation experience. I went to UO back when HP first opened in IAO. However, I went over to the Studios and the first ride I hit was RRR. Because I was a lot heavier then, they had to pack me into the seat and I really couldn't breath during the entire ride. It made me extremely nauseous. I left right after that because I was SO sick. I missed the rest of the Studios and went back to my hotel room in WDW. So, this time I know I won't get sick on RRR (I LOVE coasters) and I'll actually be able to experience all the queues and take things much slower.

Oh wow, that sucked. I hope you have a much better experience this time around.

Totally. I am 70 lbs lighter now and I fit in everything at Universal California and Six Flags Magic Mountain last year, so I am not worried. :)

Nope, no scary characters walking around during the day, except sometimes in the line for the Kong ride! We were there in Sept and the lines were short, but it was so hot we went to the pool most afternoons.

There are no HHN scare-actors wandering.

Congrats on the loss! It's nice to know you'll fit.

RRR is a funny one too because it is ALL belly restraint. So if you're squashed in there it's not fun.

Oh man is it ever not fun. I could only take extremely shallow breaths when I rode it. I was so lightheaded, dizzy, and nauseous that I could hardly stand when I got off.

last year the first night for hhn was sept 16

hhn for 2017 should be in that same time period, starting with friday/saturday for opening weekend

if you are there during hhn, leave the studios at 5 and go to ioa

no hhn is involved in that park.

or if it is possible, work the BG and WDW dates for the weekend and avoid UO completely if hhn opens during your stay
