We're headed to Disney for our second trip this Dec.
We have the dining plan and I am split between keeping the reservation we have for Tutto Italia or switching it to Tappan Edo.
I've read lots of reviews and they seem to be pretty equally split between recommending and not recommending for both restaurants. Basic criticisms of TI is that it's very authentic and therefore is not very good to those of us who are used to places like Olive Garden and Johnny Carino's and of TE that the food is bland and they don't offer fried rice and that the portions are small.
I have picky kids and I really want a great dinner that night since it will be our main meal that day!
Has anyone been to both or has a strong opinion one way or the other???

I have never eaten in Tutto Italia but have eaten at Tappan Edo, the food was so bland that I didn't even enjoy my meal. I have heard good things about it but I think it is all personal preference Enjoy where ever you decide and come to your own judgement on what you thought of the food :santa:

We've eaten at Tutto Italia and liked it very much. All of us enjoyed our meals and the service was excellent.

Teppan Edo is a Benihana style Japanese restaurant where the chef cooks at the grill in front of you, but is not traditional Japanese cuisine. And you will not find fried rice on the menu because that is a Chinese dish. :)

Have you looked at the menus for the restaurants? You can find them on allears and that might help you decide which would be a better choice for your family.

I've eaten at both and always enjoy both meals. Tutto is definitely a notch above Teppan so my vote would be for Tutto.

We ate dinner at both of these restaurants last month.

If you're a party of adults, either one would be fine. Go with the menus and pick the place your party would most enjoy food-wise. The portions at both places were fine with us.

If you have kids, I'd lean toward Teppan Edo. The chef is entertaining. Tutto is OK for kids, though it's not that fun for kids as it's a regular restaurant without entertainment of any kind. I would go as far to say that there is a bit of an adult vibe in there even though bringing kids in there is fine.

How old are your kids?

Have you ever eaten in a teppan restaurant before?

We've got adr's for both for this trip. My DD is 4.

If I had to choose one over other i'd have picked teppan edo as we have nothing like that near our home and DD has loved seeing the clips of it on youtube.

We don't like either place, to be perfectly honest. If you have a hibachi restaurant near you, I bet it has better food, better value and a better show than TE. If you have never been to a hibachi restaurant, I guess it would be ok. We were not too fond of TI either. We felt it was nothing better than some dishes we could get at almost any pizza place around here.

If your family is into Mexican food I have heard that the new place is pretty good so far.

Another suggestion would be Biergarten. We like the atmosphere and the entertainment. The food is alright, nothing special. You might sit with another party, so if that is something that may bother you, skip it. Otherwise it is a very enjoyable meal.

We enjoy them both but prefer Tutto because we have a great local hibachi place at home that is cheaper and you get alot more food.

If you had a hibachi place that you enjoy where you live I would scratch out TE and just go with TI (which is NOTHING like Olive Garden)

I'd pick Tutto. It was one of our favorite meals in February and our kids loved it. In fact, it was DD6's only meal request for our next trip. We haven't been to Teppan Edo simply because we didn't like the Japanese place that was there before it and we have better hibachi places at home that are a fraction of the price.
