Here now, just me and my husband. Trying to decide which restaurant for a nice dinner. Looking for variety (Italian, steak, seafood).

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Ps staying at boardwalk so both are convenient.

You can't go wrong with either. If you can get a reservation at Topolino's Terrace I would probably eat there though if I had to choose . Il Mulino was also excellent, I would say they have more of a selection of menu options.

I love questions that have no wrong answers. Both are really good restaurants and you'll enjoy yourself no matter which you go to. Topolino might be a bit quieter than Il Mulino as the hard walls at Il Mulino make it a bit noisy. The view is also a plus for Topolino, especially if you time it right for fireworks. Il Mulino doesn't require the skyliner from BW and its Italian food is the best on property.

We've had some meh experiences at Il Mulino though that was mainly based on service rather than food. The difference between the two is that Il Mulino has a substantially larger menu than Topolino. At the current time, Topolino is off my list because I'm not loving the current menu. Once they improve (to my taste) their menu, we'll go back. However, it's also really easy to get a reservation at Il Mulino and not so easy for Topolino. I also never feel like I'm being rushed to finish my meal at Il Mulino whereas most Disney restaurants I feel like they want to turn them over faster.

We have always had a good experience at Toplolinos. Il Mulino I have not had great experiences. I’m a little biased as I grew up in NY and ate at the Il Mulino in Greenwich Village often. It was favorite restaurant ever! The Il Mulino in the Swan isn’t supposed to be a full fledged Il Mulino restaurant but a “trattoria “. I can’t help but compare the Disney version to that so I am always disappointed. It’s a beautiful place and the food is certainly decent. However IMHO Topolinos is a more upscale experience. Also a beautiful restaurant with a great view.
I might suggest that both have bar areas where you can sit and have an appetizer or split an entree and we have never had any trouble walking into either with no reservations (I done think the lounges take reservations anyway). Topolinos I might suggest getting there early to better chance of a seat but we have never not been able to get a seat as it’s a big bar/lounge area.
This way you can do both!

We enjoy both, but I'd give the nod to Topolino's for the view. Make your reservation for around an hour prior to Luminous. The servers are great about timing the courses so that you can go out on the terrace to watch the fireworks (head out at least 10 minutes prior for a good spot). It makes for a lovely evening.

Il Mulino to me is a flip of the coin. Sometimes great, sometimes “I can’t believe what we just paid for that food and service”. Good luck. Wine is always good at anyplace😉
I am jealous, at least you have had some good meals at Il Mulino. I gave them a 3 strikes and your out rule, they struck out every time and not even close. It was like a MLB pitcher throwing to a Little League kid it was that bad.

So obviously, @lucky978, I am going with Topolino's. ;)

Thanks all! We decided to go to Il Mulino simply because of the convenience to Boardwalk and the menu was bigger. We had an amazing meal (chicken parm for me and the fish dinner for my husband). Both were amazing and the service was great. Hoping to try topolino next trip (and jiko)!
