Topolino’s — still a great restaurant?

The quiche is the best I’ve ever had. It’s seriously delectable. Second place is the steak. Characters take their time with you. Love the atmosphere. 100% recommend!!!

:Crystal Palace- Not a good experience - the least amount of care for the customer experience of any of the 4. We waited a long time for character interactions, servers/staff did not offer to take photos so we could all be in a photo together, service was not great overall, food was not great.

When I reading this review about Crystal palace, I thought I was reading my experience! This is exactly the way it was for us as well.

In regards to Topolino’s, it’s still very good, but we have opted to take a break from having breakfast there the last few trips. It was starting to feel a little stale to us. Still a solid meal and experience, but I would dare to say maybe not quite as popular as it was the first few years after opening.

We had an excellent experience at Cape May a month ago. Our character interactions were better there.

Not sure if you mean Topolino's character breakfast but in case you did - We did 4 character meals (all breakfast) during our 12-day trip last September/October. We did:

Crystal Palace- Not a good experience - the least amount of care for the customer experience of any of the 4. We waited a long time for character interactions, servers/staff did not offer to take photos so we could all be in a photo together, service was not great overall, food was not great.

Garden Grill- Wonderful service, wonderful management who came by every table to make sure we had gotten time with each character. When we mentioned we just still had yet to meet Pluto, Pluto was over to our table within 5 minutes, wonderful character interactions, visiting with each character multiple times), food was really great. I went back with my little one in December, this time for dinner, and the food was not nearly as good but the characters were amazing again. But highly recommend breakfast here.

Topolino's Terrace- Amazing character interactions (example: Minnie kneeled next to my two year old and pointed at each of his mini plastic animals that he had arranged on the table while he said what each animal was and she clapped each time he said the animal name, costumes amazing, ambiance fun and exciting). Food was really good. They will not let you add on an extra entree anymore, but we were able to add on other extras, like eggs and bacon/sausage. Our server sprinkled some pixie dust as well and brought our two year old out a mickey waffle for free. At Topolino's you don't have to pay for a child under 3 but if you order food for them you do have to pay the cost for a child 3-9, so we opted not to order him anything and just shared our food and the "extras" they allowed for free. So the mickey waffle was a total surprise and very kind of our server.

Tusker House- We enjoyed it, but unlike you will read on some blogs and be sold by some reviewers with very pedestrian palates, the food there is not exotic. It was not unlike any other WDW breakfast buffet. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but we were definitely overhyped on how pronounced the "African flair" to it was going to be. It was barely noticeable in terms of the food. The characters were great, though the interactions were not quite as special as what we experienced at Topolino's, they were still fun and the characters came by multiple times each during our visit.
You really can't plan on staff being available for photo taking at any restaurant. We have done a TON of character meals through the years and staff has never been available to take photos. If that's something you want, you should make friends with people at tables around you and swap off photo taking services.

Most people at Disney don’t mind taking your picture for you. 📸 Just smile and ask. 🤗

Yes, we've done this many times. Most times they want a photo taken as well and we just help each other out.

I had forgotten about that aspect! Is that a thing with Topolinos hosts? I had written it off to Covid! I went during Covid for breakfast and they were literally the worst I’d ever encountered at Disney. Superbly annoyed I had the gall to need to check-in in person due to my app glitching. They were, like, super busy doing absolutely nothing- and I was definitely ruining their hard work at that 🙄
It definitely must be a thing with the hosts there. We had an appointment there last Tuesday at 8:30. Checked in online in the main Riv lobby via the app at 8:10. Went up to the restaurant and sat in the waiting area where 2 other groups where sitting. They came and took those two groups to be seated then 2 other parties came up and got seated right away. I checked the app and it said our table was ready.

So I went up to the host and asked him that I just wanted to check and see if the app was right and he said yes table is ready just wait here for a min and we will seat you. We stood there for another 10 mins and a party of 2 came in that didn't even have a reservation and they sat them immediately. I went back over to him and he was very condescending acting like he never talked to me.

I had the breakfast there recently and it could not have been better. One of the very best meals I've had since being diagnosed with celiac a year ago. I also appreciated the length of the character interactions. Definitely will be returning this summer.

We had breakfast at Toppolinos for the first time last week. It was our favorite character breakfast ever- and we e done Chec Mickey’s, Crystal Palace, Cape May Buffer, Ohana and 1900 Psrk Fare

🤷‍♀️ There was staff hanging around each time. The characters also had handlers, so 🤷‍♀️. Everywhere else we've had character meals including most recently Artist's Point someone on staff often offered to take a photo for us. It didn't happen everywhere including places I didn't downvote. It was just an additional point to add to the generally bad service, food, and experience.
