Top Secret Pixie Dust! A Surprise 13th Birthday PTR! NEW! TRIP REPORT LINK PAGE 220!

Our kids are doing state testing starting this morning. Only my older DD is doing it since it doesn't start until 3rd grade. She was so funny yesterday - Mom I need to go to bed early and eat a really good breakfast, bring a bottle of water, etc.
So at 7:30 when I called her in she was not happy. She stalled until after 8. This morning she wanted pancakes, a bagel, banana bread and fruit. Little piggy. We skipped the bagel. They're testing reading today and tomorrow and math next week.
We get out on June 10 here. I'm counting the number of Fridays I have off until they're home with me! (8)

Looking forward to that picture Jackie!!! I'm guessing you have to scan it. I know my pictures when I was little were definitely NOT digital!

Awww, cant wait to see a mini CP pickey! How fun. :goodvibes

Oh, and ICK on the 5am thing. I hear ya sister. :upsidedow

This weekend we were having dinner at my parents', and Chelsea asked, "Why don't we have any pictures of you, Mom, when you were little?" To which I replied, "They are all here at Grammie and Gran'daddy's."

My mom then went and pulled out a bunch of photo albums, and there IT was...

The picture...

The picture of me at five...

At Disneyland...

That I have wanted to find for YEARS!

I will be sharing it with you soon. ;)

Your mother sent us a copy of that picture years ago....

I know I have been MIA but still reading the boards faithfully! I had to come on and post a reply to this one cause it made me laugh-

Does this famous picture feature the same strange boy that was in my old pics from Disney! :rotfl: looking forward to seeing it!

I will be around when we return from Disney- only 8 days to go! :woohoo:

Love the zoo pictures! Pandas are some of my favorite animals, we were just talking about them in class the other day...so amazing!!!!

Love the pictures of the kids, Connor is such a hoot!!

OOH, can't wait to see your Disneyland picture YAY!!!

I can't wait to see the picture. I get so upset when I think about the fact that I was lucky enough to go to Disney every year as a child and we have not one single picture as a keepsake. My parents were soooo slack.

PS. This was post #1000 for me. Ooops, maybe I'm the slack parent. :rolleyes1

Hello! Sorry so sorry I am late to the party but just spent a lot of time reading things over, WHAT FUN you have planned. I would LOVE to pull a surprise off to this magnitute. Grand Floridian, WOW!!!:scared1: What fun!!!
Great report so far, joining in!

FUN!

It is a best kept secret, much like DVC, that I love to look at pictures. :goodvibes Can't wait to see anything you are willing to show us. I think we need one from every grade in school, so we can see Jackie grow up right before our eyes. :thumbsup2

I love looking at pictures, too. All of my baby and childhood ones that we were looking at on Saturday amazed me -- I can't really believe I was that little once.

Can't wait to see it; bet it's adorable!

Well, I think it is pretty cute. :lmao:

Oh, I'm so excited to see that! :goodvibes

Coming up today! I finally loaded everything into Photobucket last night before I crashed.

We were in Atlanta for a family reunion 2 years ago, and whist most went to the zoo, we went next door to the Cyclorama. Very cool, but I'll have to go the zoo sometime too. :thumbsup2

You know -- I have never been to the Cyclorama, but when we walked by it on our way to the zoo, my SIL and I talked about taking the kids soon. Connor is so into history right now that I think he would really enjoy it, and Chelsea is always game for an outing.

Can't wait to see the photos!

5 more Mondays??
We end on June 25th. That's too many Mondays to count :sad2:

Nope, you can't count Mondays yet. ;)

:lmao: That will be us next week -- during testing week, if one of his teacher's says something, then by golly, we have to do it.

Actually, I took a picture of it -- my scanner isn't cooperating these days.

Yep, don't do it yet...it's depressing. Do as Jackie suggested and wait a few more weeks. Then it should feel better!:goodvibes

Yes, exactly! ::yes::

Awww, cant wait to see a mini CP pickey! How fun. :goodvibes

Oh, and ICK on the 5am thing. I hear ya sister. :upsidedow

I was so tickled to finally find it -- I have wanted it for years!

It's interesting, but as the week goes on, I hit the snooze button more and more frequently.

I'm beyond excited to see the picture of a 5 year old Jackie at Disneyland! This is going to be beyond cute! :goodvibes

Well, I think so, but I might be biased. :rotfl:

I might be able to help with this one

I will look in my stash!

Cool! Thanks! :goodvibes

Now that's beyond cute! I wish I had lived in the time when little girls wore dresses with poofy crinolines underneath!

I know I have been MIA but still reading the boards faithfully! I had to come on and post a reply to this one cause it made me laugh-

Why, yes, yes it does feature Strange Boy. :lmao:

You must be getting very excited about your trip coming up so soon! Say hi to the giraffes at AKL for me! :goodvibes

OOH, can't wait to see your Disneyland picture YAY!!!

Pandas are very fun to watch.

I hope I have a few more years of Connor hamming it up for the camera before he becomes too cool for that.

I will actually be able to update today.

We don't have many pictures of our trips to Disneyland and WDW -- I wish there were more.

If you are a slack parent with a 1000 posts, what does that say about me with my 15,000 posts?:laughing:

Hi, Lesley!!! Thanks for coming over to join the fun!!! This has been quite the year with trip planning for us -- I have changed things around about a gazillion times -- now we are headed to the Disney Hilton Head resort this summer with a possible fall anniversary trip for Food and Wine.

As I mentioned before, this weekend when we went to my parents’ for dinner, we ended up pulling out old photo albums and taking a trip down memory lane. While I was flipping through a photo album with pictures of my childhood, I found it. Finally, I have the photo that I always picture when I think about our early trips to Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

I thought I was five at the time of this trip (which also featured visits to some of my mom’s friends – she used to live in Ventura in the late 1960’s/early 1970’s), but my mom had labeled the photo as February, 1979. I would have been four since my birthday isn’t until November.

We stayed at a Sheraton near Disneyland, and I remember loving it because it looked like a castle from the outside. In fact, I think I was a bit of a pill because I wanted to stay at the hotel and play instead of going to do other things.

When we visited Disneyland, I was thrilled to meet Mickey Mouse! Look at that grin – it says it all! However, my enjoyment was marred by this strange boy who also ran up and posed with Mickey – these were the days when there were no handlers or lines to meet the characters. I was really quite furious with him for inserting himself into my time with Mickey, and now forevermore, my meeting with Mickey features another kid wearing a duck sweater. It’s very humorous to me now, and at least, he matched Mickey and me.

I also found silhouettes that my mother had done of me on Main Street. I am pretty sure I was a little grump having to sit still for them.

And finally, my mother gave me some vintage Disneyland memorabilia. In 1972, Disneyland did a Spring Fling type event – I am assuming it must have been like some of the parties the theme parks have nowadays. My mother went with some friends and her sister. Here are the ticket and map from it. I love the Brer Bear and Brer Rabbit pictures.

Check out the price on that ticket! $8.00!!!

I always enjoy finding Disney items from my childhood!

Sadly, right now, you just look like a little red x to me. :upsidedow
When I get home, I shall set my bag down and go straight to my laptop to see what you and your little buddy really look(ed) like. :)

I wish I had pictures from my 1971 Disney World trip. I just know I was stylin', since I was about 14 years old. ::yes:: I'd love to make comparisons from WDW of old to what's there now. I remember us having ticket booklets, and we could only choose so many rides.

Very cool that you found your Mickey picture! You were in love :lovestruc from an early age.

I LOVE that picture and all that old Disney memorabilia!!!! There is just something unique and wonderful about Disney stuff from the late 70s early 80s that always makes me smile.....I know it is because that is the type of stuff I remember from my early trips. My grandmother accompanied us once on an early trip down there before my lil' sis was even born, and she had silhouettes done of both my brother and I.....seeing yours reminded me so much of theirs! Thanks for sharing!

Oh my gosh, Jackie! How stinkin' cute were you?! Even the strange little boy who crashed your Mickey time was pretty cute.

Love the old memorabilia too, that stuff is so cool.

:rotfl: i got such a kick out of this! i bet you were so mad. in all our pictures from trips as a kid, there are usually other kids in the pictures with us and the characters. i'm so glad they have a more controlled system now where you can actually get a picture without strangers in it!

oh, and you were SO adorable! what a precious picture!

Check out the price on that ticket! $8.00!!!

 wish they'd run a "vintage" pricing special one day! ray has shown me tickets from the '70's and '80's where you paid a price and had to choose which attractions you wanted. the ticket only allowed you access to certain things, not the entire park. when we went in 2007 ray hadn't been since he was about 15 (which would've been 1986) and whenever we'd see a commercial for anything at disney he'd go, "so are we gonna get to do that???" and every time i'd answer, "yes, ray, we get to do EVERYTHING in each park.....we don't have to pick and choose attractions!" he was just baffled by that. i don't think he believed me until we got there.

thanks for sharing your vintage disney pics with us. i love seeing stuff like that!

Have fun when you come to Atlanta! Are you planning on doing any of the touristy things?

not sure yet...only be there for 3 days w/ arriving way early on Friday (tentative plan s drive through Thursday night) and then leaving for home on Monday...it will be a quickie...My Aunt and Uncle's housing complex has a pool so that should be a must :thumbsup2

I'll let you know our details when we hash it out.

LOVE the picture... you shpuld post this somewhere on line and say "who are you strange duck sweater boy?" :rotfl:

great memories...my first trip to WDW was in 85 and I don't think we posed w/ any characters and my first (and only) trip to DL was in 1988 or 89...but that was when Star Tours premiered...My parents took my older sister to WDW when she was 4.

Oh, that stuff is precious! Such a cute picture! I had my girls' sillouettes done on their first trip to WDW and framed them. They gave us two because of the way they cut it out. So I will save them for the girls.

I wonder if my mom has any pictures of my first trip to DL. I was 2. No memory of it whatsoever. I'll have to ask her if I got to meet Mickey.
