Top of World lounge

Nope.

I probably wouldn't go up in a swimsuit. Park touring clothes are fine. Certainly nothing fancier is expected or common.

And, probably, no pajamas.

LoL definitely not. Hubby was just wondering if he could go in like jeans and a polo and I would probably just go in a summer dress. It's less to pack if we don't have to "dress up."

We have been DVC members since 1998. We went spur of the moment and stayed at the Dolphin one Christmas season. We tried to go to the TOWL but were turned away. The CM was actually very nasty - we reported him. The lounge is rarely crowded and we showed our DVC card but he was still nasty. We took our money we would have spent there and went to the California Grill. So t
hey are losing a lot of revenue because they turn DVC members away if they are not staying on points. We had another couple with us and would have spent a lot of money there.

You do not have to be staying on points but you do have to be at a Disney owned property. I went up in May & Aug while staying cash at value resorts.

The menu has changed since what was posted above. They no longer have pizza. Dessert was a 7 layer cake for 2 (didn't try) or chocolate cake in a cup that was really good and much bigger than I expected.

I would have asked to speak to a manager! Is the Dolphin technically Disney owned hotel? No, but still, why are they turning away revenue?

Since the Dolphin is not a Disney-owned hotel the PP was not within the current established rules for access to the lounge. He/She also mentions they were there "one Christmas season" without specifying a year. The rules used to be more strict (you had to be staying at BLT on points) than they are now.

No, but still, why are they turning away revenue?
I guess they want the hotel revenue as well! The Mouse makes the rules and he wants all of the revenue, not just your drink money.

What??? We purchased direct at BLT, never heard of this?

The first time I heard of it was during a presentation for VGF. So I think it started sometime within the past 12 to 18 months. They have had other DVC events at TOTWL prior to that but generally open to sign-ups from members or prospective members.

We did ours in 2012

What kind of offerings does the lounge have and price range?? We've never done this and would love to try it out for the fireworks at some point!

Post #37 lists offerings and prices....
I am hoping to get to TOTW during my Dec.trip! First time at TOTW for us!
Looking forward to it!:thumbsup2:santa:

We are long time DVC members but our next trip is a stay at the Yacht Club on cash. I know my husband and I can go up as we are members staying on property. I am traveling with my sister and bil, who are not members. Technically we have two different reservations as we are staying in separate rooms, hoping for adjacent rooms. Will I be allowed to take them up? Is it up to whoever is on duty? We are going during a relatively slow time (early Nov). I am not a rule breaker, but I would love to show them the Lounge. We have been on several occasions, and it never has been busy. I would hate to make the effort of getting from the YC over to BLT and get turned away.

I believe they need to be ON your reservation for them to go up.

Has anyone been to the lounge recently? We will be down in a few short weeks and want to give it a try for the fireworks. How early should we get there? Would 8/8:30 be too late this time of the year?

Thanks!

Was there for the night before the Member Cruise. Fireworks were at 10, we got up by 9:15. We did find a family to share a table with. It was very nice to see the fireworks from up there!

My friend took this picture of the castle! You can see it is a side view!
