Hi, I tried searching but didn't see this anywhere. Sorry if it has been asked before.
My husband and I are staying on points at BCV. My brother in law is staying on our points at BLT. Can we go up to the lounge? Do one of us need to be on his reservation as owners for access? I looked at the member website and it appears that we should be allowed up with him without being on his reservation but I just want to be sure.

Thanks,

Tracie

You need to show a BLT key. If your brother in law is with you, they may allow it with just his key if it shows DVC. They may also request a member card, which you could show.

You wouldn't be able to go up to the lounge because you are not staying at BLT. Your brother in law, maybe. But like Debbie said, they may ask for his blue member card which he doesn't have.

You could all go to the fourth floor roof at the Contemporary and watch from there.

looks like new rules - ms told me that I couldn't put my niece on her own reservation and her parents.

Dn and her boyfriend at staying at SSr on my points
her father and my SIL are staying at BWV again on my points during the food/wine festavial.

since BWV is cheaper pointwise than SSR for standard view - don't have the points to move the parents to SSR.

so wanted a way for the kids to get with my DB w/o problems and got told that Disney is no longer allowing your name on two different reservation.

so looks like you can't be on two different reservations. If you can - definitely tell me and I will try again.

I found this blurb on the member website.

Due to anticipated high demand for this location, access is available only to Disney Vacation Club Members who are staying at Bay Lake Tower using their Membership (Vacation Points or cash), guests staying in the room with that Member, and guests who are staying in a room reserved by a DVC Member with Vacation Points. Access is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

I'm reading it that he can go up to the lounge because he is staying on a points reservation. Im going to try calling member services now.

Thanks

But the CMs often ask to see the Blue Member card. If they ask for it, and someone renting doesn't have one, they might not let them up.

If the rules state that a guest, staying on someone else's points, is able to go up to ToTW, then that should be the end of it. Now, if the rules state that only those holding blue member cards, staying at BLT on their points, are allowed to go up, then that's a whole different story.
But, if I remember correctly, the rules do state that you just have to be staying on point..yours or someone else's.

The issue could be DVC's concept of guest of the DVC member. They don't consider renters to be guests. A guest is someone who doesn't compensate the member for the stay.

think it is the luck of the draw - being the CM at the desk when you ask.

some of them want to see the blue card and your key ID. others only want to see your key ID. still others only wanted to see the blue card.

so good luck and hope you get up

We just got back from a week at BLT. We were asked for our member card and room key when going up to the TOTW Lounge.

We happened to be walking through the Contemporary one night right before fireworks. The view from the 4th Floor patio (by the walkway to BLT) was actually slightly better for us. When your at the TOTW, you can see that the fireworks are actually not right in front of the castle.

That one statement is what would confuse me...it says you basically don't need to be a member per se. Here's my issue...I've been up to the lounge area many times...as a card carrying member staying at BLT, using my BLT points. Only one time did I see the actual lounge area, inside, particularly crowded. And there were probably only about 3 groups that were actually ordering anything. 2 groups had actually brought in their own food...sat there, taking up space and seats, smack dab in the middle of the lounge, as they spread out their 'picnic' and ate. Then, when it got to be about 10 mins prior to the start of the fireworks??? Yep, the place emptied. And that picnicing group??? They left all the remains sitting there, for CMs to clean up.
It's pretty much only the observation deck that gets many people. And if you go a bit further down, out of the sheltered area, you will find you are almost alone!!!
