I heard somewhere that you need reservations for the Top of the World Lounge. Is this true? I am a DVC member staying on points so that it not a problem. It isn't a problem to make a reservation either if I have to do so. I was told to make reservations for it at the concierge desk. I just don't want to look like an idiot if I ask about reservations there. I like to have my information beforehand. Thanks for your help.

No reservations needed :thumbsup2 You. just need to be staying in BLT as a DVC member on points. They only checked one of our room keys.

We just were there last week, very busy in the parks, but not in the lounge.

The view is beautiful and the lounge is a great place for a snack.

Not to hijack the thread, but what kind of snacks do they offer? Could you have a light meal there?
Thanks, Murphy

Lump Crab Nachos with black bean salsa
Chicken and Vegetable Summer Roll
Bay Lake Tower Flatbread (applewood smoked bacon with chopped lettuce and tomatoes)
Buffalo Mozzarella Flatbread (roma tomatoes and pesto)
Beef Tenderloin Flatbread (goat cheese, aged balsamic, and onion jam)

We spent quite a few nights at TOWL & yes we each had a flatbread one evening & that was our dinner. They were excellent!

We went there the night before NYE when they have the special viewing of the MK NYE fireworks & it still wasn't full & even the observation area still had room up front for more people. I found a lot of times people would go up to the observation deck, but not go into the lounge so I doubt you would need reservations, even if they took them.

The do not accept reservations for the TOTWL or the Observation Deck. Access is first come, first served. Check-in is at a desk on the first floor of BLT.

I believe that was the original set up for TOTW Lounge to make a reservation or at least check in and get a pager. But the crowds are so light that it soon was changed. The only time there are a lot of people is right before the fireworks and most are just outside on the balcony. We went up for drinks after dinner one evening around 9:45 and only 8 other people were there. By time we finished our drinks at 10:20 all the other guest had left. We felt bad for the CM's as it must affect their income, with so little tips. We were on the dining plan for that trip so didn't eat there. But plan to try it in the future.

Can't wait. We will be going there our first night!!! Plan on eating and drinking and watching the fireworks. I hope it is not crowded.

It is sad for the CM's who have to work their if it is not crowded.

I know so many people were anxious for this. I am suprised the volume is light.

I just hope that they keep it exclusively for members! I will be making trips to help to try to keep it busy enough for members only!:thumbsup2

Thanks, do all rented points kttw cards say dvc member

It depends on how the member makes the reservation. I have heard that if the member makes it clear that the reservation is a rental to a non-member that it sometimes does not appear on the KTTW card.

Do you think it would help the attendance if they allowed any DVC member staying on points at any of the DVC resorts visitation privileges rather than just those staying on points at BLT? I would hate to see such a great place go by the wayside due to lack of business.

This is more in regards to all of the bars/lounges at the Disney hotels--are reservations needed if I just want to sit at the bar/lounge and have a drink and appetizer? (I really should know this!!)

Most of the bars and lounges I would say no. I believe that Top of the World Lounge is the only place that has specific conditions to be admitted.

We had the same experience during our stay in February. We went to the lounge on three different evenings. Each time there were no more that six guests in the lounge and we were the only couple in the lounge by 10:30. The CM told us that more folks come up to view Wishes, but few come into the lounge afterward. IMHO, they should open the TOWL to DVC members at ALL DVC resorts on property or this "Member Lounge" will be going the way of "The Attic" at the BWVs that was supposed to be a member lounge, but now is used only for Disney private functions. :(

BTW, the menu selections are very limited, especially for desserts. As I recall, there were only two and neither appealed to us. The drink menu is the same as that now used at all of the WDW lounges.

As a DVC member (not BLT), Iwish they would open it to all DVC members. Dh and I would certainly visit the TOTW lounge at least 2-3 evenings during our WDW visits even though we stay at different DVC properties.

The CM we spoke with thought (hoped?) that they might be considering it.
