Top 8 Offsite Hotels

I don't have a top 8 but my top two would either be HOJO or Hotel Menage. Hotel Menage is great if you aren't traveling with kids. I went with a girl friend 2 years ago and we really loved the rooms. I'm not sure if the pool was heated or not but we went in it every day while we were there (in April) and it was PLENTY warm. Its about a 10-15 minute walk from DL, or you can take ART. HOJO is great too, slightly more expensive from what I've heard but still a steal for how nice it is. It is closer to the gates as well.

We have been 7 times and stayed at the following:

Red Lion: Great, but the pool was freezing!!!

Carriage Inn: Okay for how long you are in the room, but getting pretty old and the pool is small

Anaheim Park Hotel: Nice, with a great pool, but further away

Has anyone stayed at the Anaheim Courtyard By Marriott???

I don't have a list either, but I can say that the HoJo is my #1. :thumbsup2 Their pool is great, there rooms are nice, the walk is easy, and if you can book the Ent. rate, it is very affordable.

I don't have eight and these aren't in any particular order because each meet a different need.

Candy Cane Inn - love the breakfast and the dedicated shuttle
Hojo (Ent Rate only) - nice place to stay with nice pools especially for the rate
Anaheim Plaza - cheap, clean and easy even at the last minute

Hojos or Fairfield Inn. Fairfield Inn is a few minutes closer walk and surrounded by several offsite restaurants like Millie's, Mimi's and McDonald's. McD's and Millies is right in front of their property so very convenient.

I can talk about the ones that I have chosen.

I have stayed at the Paradise Pier. Very nice rooms. Great pool with slide. The walk is a little more than I had hoped for the price. There wasn't as mush Disney "magic" as I had hoped for. I would rate it 8/10

Quality Inn & Suites on Manchester. It is a nice cheap hotel with free breakfast. It is about 10-15 minute walk. I wouldn't say it is the nicest but it is a good budget place to stay.I would rate it 4/10

Desert Palm Inn has nice rooms and is a good hotel. The walk is about 10 minutes. The pool is basic but heated and it is outdoors but enclosed by the hotel. They have a nice free breakfast. I would rate it a 7.5/10

We are staying at the Stovall's Best Western this weekend, so I will let you know how that worked out.

Please let us know how you like Stovall's, we are booked there April 17-20 so I will be interested to hear your opinions!:thumbsup2

I have stayed at a lot of different hotels around the dlr. My favorite is the BWPPI because of its location. It has the free complimentary breakfast at Captain Kidd's restaurant. I like the 5 min walk to the park so we can come back to the room in the middle of the day and head back later.

Please let us know how you like Stovall's, we are booked there April 17-20 so I will be interested to hear your opinions!:thumbsup2

I have stayed at Stovall's, for its price, it is decent. It has a nice pool, has complimentary breakfast inside the hotel and the rooms are updated when I stayed there last year. It takes about 15 to 20 min to walk from the hotel to the parks that includes walking through the grand california hotel.

Thanks for all the great ideas. I was first going to put top 10 and then knocked it down to 8. But even 3-5 is great. Keep them coming. It is always great to know about different experiences. :cool1::cool1:

Well, i can't list 8 because I haven't stayed in that many places around there but my #1 pick is Candy Cane Inn. I have no idea if the pool is warm since I've never used it. It's a cute little pool area but it is small. I love that it's within walking distance but there is also a shuttle and the free breakfast is pretty good as far as free hotel breakfasts go. I also like the way the hotel looks. They've done a nice job of making an ordinary hotel look nice.

Here are my favorite offsites and why
Hojos building 1 rates and closeness to hojo market
Hojos building 2 rates and quiteness, garden pool
after my alltime favorite Hojos..........

Candycane inn brekki and shuttle
Portofino interior corridors, market, kids suites good online specials
Stovalls best western cheap rates and recently new beds & interiors
That's it I can't break free of Hojos :worship:

Hey neighbour! I live in Leduc (5 mins away :) )

Anyway I like the Tropicana, it is so close and the staff are very friendly, rooms are clean, and the beds are fine. This is the one we always choose when staying off site.

That being said, when we go in August we are going to try the Park Vue because they had a really good rate.

Ugh 2nd time doing this 1st attempt didn't go through!

I will tell you where we've stayed and whether or not we'd stay there again. We don't spend much time in pools when we visit DLR ~ we can swim at home, well the nice community pool.

Starting with my kids 1st trip ~ 3/06 *my mom & sister were with us.
We stayed here - http://www.travelodge.com/Travelodg..._info?propertyId=10418&cid=GTFTL&brandInfo=TL ~ and never again will we stay there, the room was awful!

2nd trip ~ 6/06 *my mom had a work conference so DS & I joined her, I'm pretty sure we stayed at the Hilton near the convention ctr. it was nice, probably $$$ *the government paid for that hotel ;)

3rd trip ~ 9/07 *my mom, my sister & her almost 1 year old DS joined us. We stayed here *in a kids suite ~ http://www.comfortinnmaingate.com/ It was nice enough, I'd stay there again but it's not exactly close to the parks so it'd have to be a good deal.

4th trip ~ 4/08 *DS's B~day trip, my Dad & former Step Mom joined us ~ we stayed here http://www.anaheimdesertinn.com/ *in a 2 room suite, it was fine, I'd stay there again ~ close to the parks, I think this one has the in door pool - YUCK ~ it was stuffy and chlorine-y.

5th trip ~ 12/08 *my mom & Gma joined us *our first HoJo stay and it was lovely, this was also our 1st time on site, we spent our last night at the PP it was nice as well but $$$.

6th trip ~ 3/09 ~ 1st time using priceline - we stayed here http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...eim_Garden_Grove-Garden_Grove_California.html and it was nice but not within walking distance, they do have a free shuttle that worked out well, but again I like to be able to walk, it's right across the street from a Target, this was also our 1st time @ the DLH again our last night and it's so nice but again $$$

7th trip ~ 5/09 Priceline again and again we stayed at http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...eim_Garden_Grove-Garden_Grove_California.html

8th trip ~ 7/09 - we just spent one day in the parks but 2 nights @ HoJo, I was able to get the ent. rate for 2 week nights in mid July!

9th trip ~ 9/09 our 1st time at the Grand CA ~ we kind of got a deal, but it wasn't cheap. It's actually my least fave of the 3 DLR hotels, we just spent 1 night there then we moved here ~ http://anaheimplazahotel.com/ - I would stay there again, it was a great deal $54 per night.

10 trip ~ 12/09 *my mom was with us and we spent just one night @ the DLH ~ we spent about a day and a 1/2 in the parks after a weekend cruise.

Upcoming ~ 4th of July weekend for DD's B~day I have this hotel booked http://www.motel6.com/reservations/motel_detail.aspx?num=1066 ~ it's a great deal, I'll keep an eye on the Anaheim Plaza & HoJo but I don't know that I'll be able to get a better deal.

My favorite is the BWPPI for it's location. Nothing fancy, clean, regular breakfast with cereal, muffins, bagels, coffee but..........but, it's the back in your room in 5 minutes that keeps us going.

We've stayed at the Disneyland Hotel.....very nice & great pool(s)!!!

We've stayed at the Tropicana Inn....clean, quiet & comfortable....close to ped crosswalk. Pool dead center of parking lot....looked ok...just didn't use it on our trip.

We've stayed at the Motel 6.....great rates. Rooms were just redone & nice. Pool always looked busy but again...no swimming on this trip.

We've stayed at the Desert Inn & Suites.....good rate for large families. The pool is inside & small......kids swam with about 50 other people...so not very much fun.

The one motel I will tell you NOT....I repeat NOT to go to is the America's Best Value-Astoria Inn on Ball St. Super price....but we found out why!! Our room was filthy...our babies were crawling on the floor & were black within the first 10 mins in our room. There was a burned outlet, accumulation of ?? :scared1: ?? in the corners & bathroom, beds were broke down & the pool & hot tub were visibly dirty!!:sick: It was bad!!

We just got back from our trip this morning at 2am! We stayed one night at Anaheim Plaza, and 5 nights at Park Vue Inn. Loved the Park Vue - it and BWPPI are the absolute closest hotels to the park. Park Vue was very clean, had a very filling breakfast, free parking, free wifi, and bunkbeds, which were absolutely essential to my sanity. I was not impressed with the Anaheim Plaza. Room didn't feel clean, and they charged extra for everything, plus it was a longer walk.
