The unoffical guide to Walt Disney World lists the following three resorts (ranked in order) as the best for families with children under 12.

Poly
Grand Floridian
Wilderness Lodge

What do you think?

I'm surprised that Yacht and Beach Club aren't on the list with Stormalong Bay being so popular with kids!!! :)

That sure wouldn't be my top 3. Of course we have never stayed in any of those, but I like the look/ammenities offered GF and Poly, but my list would be more like:
Animal Kingdom Lodge
Wilderness Lodge
Yacth and Beach Club

The UG is really scientific in all of thier ratings and such, and have been pretty dead on with most things. Maybe I will have to bump the Poly up on my list and give it a try. :scratchin

Definitely agree--though, I'd have to say the Animal Kingdom Lodge was overlooked, which happens to be my son's favorite at WDW. I think they are considering close proximity to MK, which is key. Also, the Poly's beach is great fun for playing in the sand, and the pool is kid-friendly, not to mention the fun theme. The GF has the best kid's activities, and the Poly is close enough to visit them easily. The WL has that great geyser, is close to the kid-friendly events at Fort Wilderness (petting zoo, Hoop De Doo, carriage ride, etc.), and has a playground.

My son LOVES the animals at AKL and the playground--plus the Animal Kingdom Park is a close second to MK, so I think it deserves an honorable mention!

I bet they were concerned about the distance to MK and the lack of water transportation...but I think AKL's animal features outweigh these factors for many.

Resort rankings are so subjective. WDW has many wonderful, kid friendly resorts. It really comes down to an individual family's priorities and interests.

I do love the poly, but I am hoping the BC is just as wonderful - since I will be staying there in Jan. I am really not that fond of the GF though. I guess I do not like the victorian theme.

I agree with another post which suggests that it is all subjective.
my opinions for family related resorts are"

Poly & WL - tied for Deluxe

POFQ - for moderate

Really I think the top e resorts are a matter of personal opinion. That would not be my top 3. AKL would definetly make my top 3 lists as would the YC and probably CSR.

It is very subjective as stated previously.

If I were to rank by value (that is, taking price in to consideration)

1. CSR

2. WL woods view

3. CR Garden Wing.

Most of the deluxes do not add enough additional value for the price for me. AKL has the novelty of the animals, but is too far away from the other parks when savannah room prices are considered. If I didn't have the savannah view, I'd rather be at the WL.

The top of the line deluxes are nice, but there are too many other things I can do with the money that are fun.
