Regarding Stephen's comment about MouseTunes being the most popular Disney podcast, I'd like to point out that The Disney Portal ranks MoustTunes as the #1 Disney podcast site:

This is because many people listen to the podcast directly from the website and as such are picked up by our Alexa traffic ranking measure. Makes me feel better that these results have some validity.

I guess I didn't look into it enough... I didn't even see the Podcasts section (your link above)... I was looking at the Best Podcasts/Audio list (on the left hand side of the homepage under "Top Disney Sites").

Now I see where Distant Creations is on the Podcasts list that you linked to above...

i'll give a "second" to mousetunes as being the number 1 disney podcast. lou and nathan are great guys and have a great, witty, candid show. i agree that inside the magic has fantastic production values, but i prefer mousetunes content. nice to see lou and nathan rated so highly, i am sure they appreciate it.

I agree, MouseTunes is excellent. But I would have to say iTunes is up there towards the top as far as number of podcasts downloaded, and it has Inside The Magic as the most popular non-official Disney podcast.

I doubt that this necessarily means anything as far as total listeners. They (the podcasters) probably know how many downloads they have from week to week but I don't know if there's any way for us to know... I'm not saying that Inside The Magic is my favorite, but it is a very well rounded show, and being the most popular non-official disney podcast on iTunes says a lot IMO.

As far as podcasts go my personal top 5 would be:

1. MouseTunes
2. Inside The Magic
3. WDW Today
4. Meandering Mouse
5. Character Breakfast

TheMagicInPixels moves up from 48th to 18th driven by the site's new forum ( http://themagicinpixels.com/forum/ ), breaking into the Top 20 Disney sites list for the first time. If you hurry, you just might get a chance to make the 1000th post at TheMagicInPixels since there have been 982 posts to date.

Our visitors have viewed over 1600 hours of video on the site so far this month and we've had visitors from nearly 50 different countries. Here's a Disboards traffic analysis. It shows that Disboards appears to be the site that has best maintained traffic increases due to the Eisner-to-Iger transition.

The rankings seem to be based on traffic, and fluctuate quite a bit.

Here are few unique and wonderful sites that didn't make the list but are very worthy of your attention, in no particular order.

A very specialized but very extensive website dedicated to the Polynesian resort. It just oozes uniqueness.

Current fluctuations in the ratings are due to both traffic and user voting, while Google PageRanks can only occur a few times a year per restrictions from Google. Of course, anyone can vote for their favorite Disney site at http://www.thedisneyportal.com/tdp/submit_site.asp.

In general, rankings for the Top 20 Disney Sites are fairly stable. For the past two months, here's roughly how the Top 5 have looked:

1 1 - DisBoards
2 2 - AllEarsNet
3 3 - TheDisneyBlog
4 4 - MouseSavers
5 5 - LaughingPlace

While there's been some movement in spots 5-10. The movement of ExploreTheMagic is due to having a large set of site fans that really like ETM and have told me about it.

6 12 +6 ExploreTheMagic
7 6 -1 MousePlanet
8 8 - JimHillMedia
9 9 - WDWInfo
10 11 +1 Yesterland

We could release only the top 10 in which case it would look stable, but I think it's more fun to release the nearly 400 sites we track. Given that most of these sites have roughly the same traffic, meaning 0-50 visitors a day, small fluctuations could change things fairly easily.

Of course, user voting helps too.

Hey that's me. Erik points out that as the Original Poster, I've failed to update the listing on the first page of this post. It's now updated as of December 1, 2006. The original listing was apparently the first one before they tweaked the ranking methodology and made it better. The latest can always be found at:
