I'll be posting this same question on the other boards.

If you're a visitor to the DIS boards you're, most likely, better versed in the planning and execution of a WDW vacation that the average individual. You may be the person that people come to with questions about the hotels or parks when they decide that "Junior" is be ready for that once in a lifetime trip to the World. Little do they know, there can never "be only one".

What are the most asked questions you get from a novice? If you can, include your response to their query. Reach back and try to come up with as many as you can, not necessarily 10. It shouldn't be hard. You must get them often and, if you're like me, you love to talk about Disney with anyone willing to listen. :D

I'll compile a list of the ones that make the cut and post it here.

Thanks, John

What day is best day to go to what park, best ticket option,do I need a PS,where to stay, how many days should I stay, best way to use fast pass, best way to get from airport to WDW,how much will it cost, where can I find park hours, what time of year to go,how big are the crowds,to use EE or not to use EE.These are questions I see often and ones that I've asked when I was new to the Dis.People on this board were nice and answered them even though they had been asked a 1000 times. They would give detailed answers and post links. The people make this board special not the questions.:earsboy: :earsgirl: :sunny:

- Questions about attraction opening and rehab dates
- Questions about tickets and ticket upgrades
- Questions about operating hours
- Itinerary questions
- Question about if they'll be able to handle a certain ride
- How big are the crowds
- Questions about "special event" holidays, i.e. July 4, X-mas and New Year's
- Where to find a certain character
- Fastpass-related questions
- Questions regarding the visitation pattern of "undesired" groups

All of the above are too general to post a definite answer to. I have a FastPass FAQ on my web site (which needs to be updated, but most of the info should still be accurate), as well as FAQs on some of the newer and still-under-construction attractions.

As for operating hours, it's helpful to know that Disney changes these frequently on short notice. On their web site, hours get posted before parades and fireworks are, so don't freak out if they don't show up right after the hours get posted. It's normal.

As for tickets - first do your research, then buy them. Upgrades take time, can be messy, and more often work in Disney's favor than yours. Old tickets never expire. If your child used a child's ticket last time that still has days on it, it's still valid, no matter what age the "child" is now. Old tickets incompatible with the existing ticket format should be exchanged (not upgraded) at a ticket window so that you don't have to ask a CM to print off FastPasses for you wherever you go.

#1--Where should I stay?

The answer of course, depends. I try to get a feel for their budget and needs, then make a recommendation. I typically recommend All Star Movies for the budget-conscious, Port Orleans French Quarter for moderate budgets, and either the Polynesian, Yacht Club, or Animal Kingdom Lodge for the deluxe, depending on their location preference and needs.

#2--Is on site really better than off site?

In my opinion, yes. You can leave your car parked from when you arrive to when you check out. Disney's transportation system is efficient and pretty stress-free. Plus, you get to stay in the magic all day and night long. The Disney resorts all have wonderful theming and are impeccably clean.

#3--Can you get me a discount?

Maybe. I tell them to check mousesavers for current codes.

:)

That's all I can rattle off at the moment. Mickey

Please take the responses in the humorous spirit that was intended.
  1. Can I use my refillable mug from last year?
Sure you can...at home. Just make sure that you wash it in between uses.
  2. Should I take my child out of school for a WDW vacation?
Yes, because it's preferable to leaving them home alone while you go on vacation.
  3. Can I use the pool at another resort?
Again, the answer is "yes you can...right after you check in to that resort."
  4. Does anyone check to see how many of us are staying in the room?
God is always watching but I'm sure He's not going to tell anyone.
  5. Is staying onsite really worth it?
Yes but the security guards don't like it when you try to move into the castle so be sure to reserve a room at one of the resort hotels instead.
  6. How do you all afford to go to WDW so often?
I deprive my family of all enjoyment thru the year, feed them PB&J for all meals and hitchhike to get there instead of flying.
  7. Does my 4 year old need a ticket? She's really small for her age and looks 2.
No, you're never too young to learn how to lie and deceive people.
  8. What's the best time of year to go?
I usually try to go when I have time off from work. In fact, my boss prefers that I do it this way.
  9. Is it okay to bring a toaster/coffeemaker/crockpot/George Forman Grill for my room?
If you don't mind sleeping in your kitchen, have at it.
  10. I'm leaving next week. When should I make my reservations for breakfast in the castle?
At 7 am, 90 days prior to your next visit to WDW.

Are they trying to avoid this group, or are they hoping to make some new friends? :jester:

1. Can we bring food into the park?
Answer: You could, within reason - no ice chests of course, but I wouldn't. There's so many good things to eat in the parks.
2. Is Easter break a good time to go to WDW?
Answer: Only if it was that week or no week at all, but I wouldn't.
3. Should we go back to the hotel for a break in the afternoon?
Answer: You could, but I wouldn't. If I wanted to rest, I'd stay home.
4. Do you go on the "baby" rides?
Answer: If you mean rides like the carrousel & Dumbo, of course I do.
5. Do we need to get up early to go the parks?
Answer: Only if you want to experience the low crowds & cooler weather. If you want to bake in the midday sun & get run over by mobs of strollers & others, sleep as late as you want to.
6. Will it be crowded when I go?
Answer: If you are going when kids are typically off of school, it will be crowded.
7. Do you buy souveniers every time you go?
Answer: As many as I can squeeze into a suitcase.
8. Is it true that water costs(fill-in-the-blank with some absurd amount)?
Answer: Almost
9. Should we spend all of our time at Disney or should we divide our time at Universal?
Answer: I've heard people say that Universal is fun, but I'd never take time away from Disney unless I was able to have a vacation that lasts more than a week.
10. Is it worth the money?
Answer: YES!!!!
