Tooth Fairy

The tooth fairy also leaves $2.00 at our house. We also know somebody who gets $20.00, it really does put the tooth fairy in a spot when I than have to explain to the kids how the ecomony is lagging and maybe some of the tooth fairies investment portfolio is not doing so well........HaHaHaHaHaHa.

When the tooth fairy visited me, she left a quarter. She leaves $1 (in 4 quarters) for my daughters. According to my oldest, front teeth are special and they deserve $2. Luckily for her, the tooth fairy agreed. ;)

i found and printed a "letter from the toothfairy" for the first time lol
left 5 bucks. then each tooth after is 3 :woohoo:

Our tooth fairy does a $2 bill with fairy dust on it. They love running downstairs with a little fairy dust on their hair or face. Once dd got $5 because she had to have a tooth pulled because her permanent tooth wedged the loose tooth and dh couldn't pull it out. I don't do teeth. Can't even stand to see the wiggle.

I read something in a news magazine recently that said the going rate for the Tooth Fairy is generally $5 for the first and $1 each for the rest. There are apparently some small pockets int he US where the rate is higher, averaging $20 for the first and $5 each for the rest, but that was noted as the exception and not the norm.

The gold dollar coin idea is really neat!

I remember over 25 years ago (early 1980s) getting $1 per tooth.

The tooth fairy leaves $2 here also! My DD is the only one loosing teeth at the moment, and if her pattern continues then DS #1 will not start loosing any until sometime in 1st grade(none of his are even loose yet!), for a while I thought DD would be going to high school with those baby teeth!! :rotfl:

DD told me that a kid in her class get $20 for EVERY tooth he looses and she said his family must have a personal tooth fairy!! I thought that was so funny! They have 6 or 7 kids and the dad is a retired baseball player, so they have a bit of money to throw around!!

I think that is a crazy amout to give for teeth and my kids will have to be happy with $2 a tooth, maybe for the last one they will get a bit more, we will see!

I always got a $1 per tooth growing up, either in quarters or more often in half dollars (that was the rage before the gold $1 coins came out, don't ya know!) I think I occasionally may have gotten $2 for special circumstances...front tooth, molar, etc. I can't believe some kids are cashing in on $20/tooth nowadays! :scared1:

We always do $2 bills. Every time we go to the bank we ask if they have any and just keep putting them aside. Who else would have a $2 bill but the tooth fairy.

LOL... this has been the "great debate" in our Kindergarten class.
The average here is $10 per tooth, but one little girl got $100 for her first (because the tooth fairy knew that she really wanted an American Girl Doll).

For 1st teeth we leave $5 and a lego set, teeth after that are "a book and a buck" (we leave $1 tucked inside as a bookmark).

When we were in Disney though and my ds8 lost a tooth (on my dd's b-day no less) Tinkerbell left him the coin set of the world showcase coins.

My oldest DS just lost his first tooth last month! So exciting!

The tooth fairy left him 5 $1 gold coins ("pirate treasure"). We decided the going rate is 5 for the first tooth and 1 for every tooth after. I got the gold dollar coins from our bank and when I told the teller what they were for, she got all excited and went searching in the back so she could get the shiniest ones. :wizard:

Our dd got $20 for her first tooth but that was because her other tooth was coming in behind it and it was our way to get her to pull it. The tooth fairy figured $20 was a bargin compared to a dental bill!! Also she lost it on her 5th birthday so it was a bit special. Since then it has been $2 each.

Our Tooth Fairy leaves gold dollars, though you have to plan in advance for them, two for the first tooth and one for every tooth thereafter. I do not believe in toys or big $$.

My DD6 lost her first tooth last night !! (yes I shed a tear or two....cant believe she is growing up so fast..seems like just yesterday she was cutting her first baby teeth) Toothfairy left $2. She asked me what the Tooth Fairy did with her tooth when she took it ?? I had no idea what to tell her so I changed the subject but Im sure she will ask again tonight. Does anyone know what the Tooth Fairy does with the teeth when she takes them ?? I need to be prepared !!

My kid read a Junie B. Jones book and the theory in the book is that the Tooth Fairy recycles teeth and gives them to babies that need them, since Junie lost her first tooth the same day her baby brother Ollie got his first one. Kind of an "Eeew!" theory, but my DS bought it!

Well, the tooth fairy is quite forgetful around my house but when she remembers it is $1.00.

That is what we did for the first tooth. I already had a $1 gold coin, so it worked out. But then Hubby went in her room right before she woke up, and I guess he thought the one coin wasn't enough and he put a $5 bill in the envelope too! My DD5 was so excited for both, especially the $5 bill. She said it was because she was 5 that the tooth fairy left a $5 bill, I thought that was so cute :) She did loose a 2nd tooth a few weeks later and since we weren't prepared, we didn't really have cash in the house. I left her a nickel, since it represents 5 again :) And I also left her a princess photo viewer toy, bought on sale at Target for about $5 I had it saved to put in her Easter basket, but used it for a tooth fairy gift since we didn't have much choice.
We do the gold dollar coins, so they were like gold and something different. The hard part is remembering to have a supply from the bank.

We read a story about a rabbit that lost her first tooth and in the story, the rabbit told her parents that she thinks the toothfairy uses her tooth to give to the newborn baby rabbits. So, my DD5 thinks that her two teeth will be given to other babies that are born. I thought that was cute :)

LOL, I just quoted the same person you did and the story we read said the same thing. Our book was a paperback picture book. Title: Little Rabbits Loose Tooth By: Lucy Bate It was a very cute story. We have read it about 3-4 times since DD5 had 2 loose teeth back to back.
