And booked our first cruise! We're booked on the 4-Day Wonder on 10/12/03, in Cat. 6 (Deck 6, midship, starboard). I read everything on these boards before booking. It'll only be dh, ds (8)and I, as dd will be in her first year of college.

Any opinions on our cabin selection? Also, since we're only doing the 4-Day, I'm wondering if we should book any excursions, or if we'd be better off just going with the flow. I don't want to feel rushed, and it sounds like there is so much to do and see, outside of the excursions. I am thinking of booking a room at Comfort Suites though, so we can use the facilities at Atlantis for the day. I think ds would really enjoy the aquarium and water slides. Thanks for your expertise!

congratulations!
you're going to have a grand time...
as for comfort suites/atlantis...
is your son tall enough for the slides?....it would seem a shame to spend all that money if it ends up that he's too short...although i suppose at age 9 he'll be tall enough...

I didn't know that there was a height restriction for the slides. Do you have any idea what it is? He's about 52" tall now, but he has almost 11 months of stretching to go. :)

We were at Atlantis earlier this month, and there are only 3 slides that I remember seeing. We did not do the speed slide, but I think that would be the only one that had a height restriction.

Atlantis is most definately an awesome place, but at the same token VERY EXPENSIVE just to go swimming. There is so much to see, that you cannot possible do it all in one day. We probably only saw about a third of it, but we had early seating for dinner and were at Animators Palate that night and didn't want to miss that being we were on the 3 night and that was our only chance for that dining room. If I were to do it again, I probably would not spend the money and just go to "explore". That might not be real easy with your 9 yo who may want to use the pools. There are some really nice aquariums at Atlantis. It is a toss up...... You almost have to just do it to say you did it!!

I have heard that there are some pretty amazing beaches in Nassau too, and the "swim with the dolphins" is supposed to be really cool too.

We were on Deck 6 Midship on the port side. You will like this location. It is very convenient to everything! Have a wonderful time on your cruise. You have lots of time to decide and plan for what you might like to do!

Happy sailing..............
Kim

i think the height restriction is 48" so no problem for you..
the 3 slides the poster above mentioned are in the pyramid...
but in addition to that area of the hotel grounds, there is a separate swim area with a lazy river type pool...
we spent about an hour on the pyramid slides, then went over to the lazy river pool for another hour of swimming...
and then we went back to the boat (after checking out of the comfort suites.....we were back on the boat by 2:30)....
the aquarium is nice but nothing special if you've been around nice aquariums (we live by the sea and have a spectacular aquarium, so we're a bit jaded in that department..).
if you have a swimming armband then you can also visit the aquarium.....
backing up, to use the pools and slides you have to have a room at either the atlantis or comfort suites...
however , i think to just see the aquairum you can pay a fee of $25 or something like that...
if you just want to see the rest of the hotel and casino (not the pool and aquarium) you don't have to pay...
