We leave in 21 days (but who's counting?) for our second trip to the World. It will be me, DH and DD14. I've been reading the great YOMD stories and am starting to wonder--what are our chances really of getting hit with some Magic? pixiedust:
Has anyone with older kids, or adults, gotten and Dreams yet?? Just excited to be going, but would love to have something cool happen! :confused3

I was wondering the same thing! It seems the accounts I have witnessed and read all were families with a young child or young children. DBF and I just came back last week, and we were sad we weren't given any dreams. ;(

Just my two cent's worth, but it seems to me that the "pixi dust" stuff is happening to people with kids (free popcorn, etc) but the actual prizes (lanyards, etc) are random and are run by an outside company but implemented by CM's, so your chances of winning are just as good as anyone's.

I hope you have lots of PIXIE DUST on your trip! :wizard:
We leave next week and I'd love some, too!!!!

There was a couple in their 60's in front of us in line and I asked about their lanyards I had not seen. They were the YOAMD fastpass cards (FP for each major ride)..not sure if that's the golden one or not?

We went to EPCOT this past sat morning, went to test track first thing. We were in room #3 and 3-4 cm were in there, all of a sudden one of them says "congradulations you are getting a disney dream come true" They gave us lanyards with "dream fastpass" on them. They were plastic cards with little tabs on the side that were fast passes for all the rides at EPCOT. This just made our day. We left EPCOT, spent the rest of the day @ AK and MGM, then went back to EPCOT that night. It was such a treat. I was talking with a cm @ AK, she said they gave the same passes out @ EE for the rides @ AK the day before. She also told me they would be doing that randomly at all the parks. It was very exciting as we had a newbie with us. Just more disney magic to keep us hooked ;)

LOL, between this, and other message baords, I've seen so many "Will they pick me if I'm older", "Will they pick me if I have a wheelchair?", "Will they pick me if I'm solo?"

It's kind of funny how many people think Disney is going to exclude them. Don't presume the worst. Remember, that the majority of people who come to these boards have kids (I don't, so I know it's not ALL of us, but it is the majority) so those are the stories you are going to read here.

However, don't expect anything anyway - it's a contest. This is one of the places where the Internet can be a bad thing. People are going to build up expectations, and if they don't win anything/get anything for free they are going to feel badly about their trips for no good reason. You are going to WDW! Concentrate on that, and if something nice happens then wonderful! If it doesn't - heck, you still got to go to Disney World!

Best advice is to forget about the prizes, and just have fun. Don't look for reasons to feel slighted.

1) Age doesn't mean a thing.
2) Color doesn't mean a thing.
3) Sex doesn't mean a thing.
4) If you are breathing, you qualify.
5) At least I think you have to be breathing.
6) The hand-outs of prizes are on a formula basis.
7) Example:
. . . fifth person in line at 2:05pm, then next ten people in line
. . . all in Star Tours car #3 at 10:06am
8) The CM's must follow the process, or bias could be charged
9) If CM's don't follow the process, they would be re-assigned.
10) And, hearing from those on the Dream Squad, it is a good gig. *

* Heck, I'd love to be one of those walking around giving our freebies, even though it is per a prescribed routine. I wouldn't risk that kind of a job.

Just look like you're having a good time.. I think that stands out more than anything at all.

Smile, say thank you.. enjoy yourself.

(and in the end if you are TRULY enjoying yourself.. isn't that a dream come true in itself??)

Just to let you know, the day we were at MGM an older couple was given a DVC membership. So it isn't just for those with kids. I think it has to be completely random or people would be up in arms about it!

My one hope concerning YOAMD is that it does NOT turn into something like the ongoing towel animal quest that we see on the Disboards(e.g. "It was a nice vacation but we didn't get any towel animals. What are we doing wrong?"). It might be something of an exaggeration, but it certainly has been the tenor of some of the posts I have read about towel animals and the search for the Mousekeepers who make them.

We are going home to Saratoga Springs Resort for New Years. I'm excited about the trip. Yes, it would be nice to get a dream pass or a pin lanyard or some mouse ears -- however we know that we're making a dream trip for our friends who have never been to WDW and we're treating them to a luxurious stay at a lovely DVC resort.

I was at WDW last week and received 2 Dream Fastpasses - one at the Magic Kingdom and one at the Animal Kingdom. It was a group of 5 adult women, no kids in tow..... I went on this trip not expecting to get anything, but just to celebrate my 50th birthday and have a wonderful time with friends and family. It was a pleasant surprise to win the Dream Fastpasses.

Don't forget that most of the magic has to come from you. They can only do so much. (But it would be cool to get a freebie!)

My GF and I got acouple fastpasses for Rocken Roller Coaster and Expedition Everest but they were given to us by other guests because they were leaving. Nothing by any CM's yet.
