Ok, I need help deciding. I've still got a couple of months to decide but I'm second guessing myself. Would this be too much steak in a row?

1st day: Le Cellier (We will definitely order the filet.)
2nd day: Yachtsman Steakhouse (DH and DSs will probably order Porterhouses, I will order the filet.)
3rd day: Artist Point (I know there are other things to order here, but DH and DSs will probably order the buffalo. I might order the salmon or scallops, but have heard great things about the beef tenderloin.)

If I choose these restaurants, they will have to go in this order, and we can't skip any days in between. We will doing a split stay and will have the DxDDP for the first three days only. I don't want to pay OOP for any of these, so we will be using our credits.

Is this plan crazy?

personally I think they are all great choices, the filet at both LeCellier and Yachtsmen are both great,( Risotto @ LeCellier, and Augratin Potatoes @ Yachtsmen) and Artist Point is very good, the Portobello soup and their bread is great, I had the Buffalo, but would choose something else next they suggest to eat it rare and it was to rare for me. I would try a none beef @ Artist Point. But you can never have to much good filet in my opinion. Have a great trip!!

I don't see anything wrong with this plan unless you are a vegetarian.:rotfl2:

It's vacation, so I think go for what you want.:goodvibes I read a great review on Shula's Steakhouse @ S&D if you need another steak house. :lmao: Everyone in my party was very pleased w/ LC. I have yet to try the others.

We've never eaten at AP, and I can't wait to try the portobello soup! Hopefully, we will be able to reserve VWL (never stayed there before), so it will be nice to eat at AP on our first night there. I don't think I will try the buffalo for the reason you stated. I can't even stand medium steaks, so I know I won't be able to eat the buffalo. It won't be a problem for the meat-eating men in my family though. :lmao: We've never been to YSH either. We were going to try it this past Christmas, but our plans were changed. That's why we want to go this next trip. We have eaten at LC several times. I love the filet and usually sub the risotto for cream cheese mashed potatoes, but I think that side may be gone now. :sad1:

Too funny! :lmao:

Well, since I'm worried that I have too many steakhouses, we will probably skip Shula's. My DH and I did eat at Shula's last February, and it was delicious. We still have the restaurant.com certificate that we couldn't use since it was Valentine's Day. We may try to use it on another trip when we aren't on the dining plan, and maybe when we don't have so many steaks planned!

Thanks for the replies. I feel better about my plan.

That would be too much steak for me, personally, but if you are a steak lover-go for it!

I have to say though, the scallops at Artist's Point were to die for when we were there last month if you are looking for an alternate dish!!

Thanks. I was wondering about the scallops there. I don't hear a lot about them, but scallops are probably my favorite food! Filet mignon comes in at 2nd! I love seafood, but my DH is allergic to some shellfish and doesn't like a lot of ethnic foods. The one exception is Japanese which will be having at Teppan Edo for lunch one day. He will be happy eating steak everyday, but I just worried that it might be too much. I think I will go with the filet at LC and YSH but then order the scallops at AP. Thanks again.

I wouldn't say you'll be sick of steak necessarily...just ready for something else.

Well, for lunch on two of the days we will be eating at Teppan Edo and Earl of Sandwich. Then for dinner the other day we will snack at the Food and Wine Festival. So that will help us get some variety in. Also the rest of the trip we will be eating at Ohana, Whispering Canyon Cafe, and a couple of CS restaurants. I do think that gives us some different choices.

Can anyone tell me if the buffalo tastes like a typical steak, or will it be a different experience than YSH and LC?

I think it's WAY too much steak! :scared1: In fact, you should just invite me, and being the kind- passionate person that I am, I will eat one or three of those for you. ;)

Sounds like a great trip to me!!! :thumbsup2

I had to check out your thread because my whole family tends to eat "too much steak" when we are on the DDP. We always gravitate toward steak on a lot of the menus because it looks like the "best " dish on the menu and the best "value" for the DDP. We figure we enjoy while on vacation and try to be healthy the rest of the time. I know I would be sad during the meal if I didn't order what I really wanted. Enjoy the beef!!!

Only you can decide if it is too much steak for YOU- not an internet message board :rotfl: I would be fine with your choices.

Buffalo tastes like very beefy beef. It's a bit stronger that normal cattle. Some people find it gamey, but if you're a real steak person who likes that kind of earthy irony taste, you'll enjoy it. It does need to be kept under medium though. It has a lot less fat that typical beef, so cooking it too much turns it to leather.

Off subject...I noticed you have the Hilton Head resort on your signature. :lovestrucHave you been there yet? I'd LOVE,to check it out sometime. Any thoughts on that?

Three steak dinners in a row would be too much for me, and I love eating steak at restaurants because I don't really cook beef at home...I use ground turkey instead, and we don't eat steak at home except once in a blue moon. But, you may find each restaurant prepares the steak different enough to where you will still feel like you're getting variety.

If you end up tired of steak one night, you can order something else, of course! I would look at some reviews of alternate entrees at those restaurants to keep on your backup list in your head in case you just aren't in the mood for another slab of beef on your plate. :) That is what I'm doing, because there are three steak entrees I'd love to try on my trip, but I don't think I'll be in the mood for all three.

I'm the same way with steak! I don't think it is too much. And like the others have said, you could always choose something else one night if you decide it's too much. I do have to say that the scallops at AP are delicious. I will be ordering the same thing this year. Looking forward to the steaks at Le Cellier, CG, Jiko and Brown Derby!!! Have a great trip:)

Well, in Sept my DH had fillet at all 3 of those restaurants plus Rose & Crown, Hollywood Brown Derby & California Grill. He had to settle for strip steak at Grand Floridian Cafe (no fillet!). :rotfl2: So, no, we wouldn't think it was too much steak. And he has NO problems with his cholesterol levels! :headache:

I had the strip steak @ Yachtsman's & the salmon @ Artist Point & both were absolutely to-die-for delicious.

With all the walking and such you do, I think you'll need all that protein to help repair your muscles :) So sounds about perfect to me ;)

I don't consider Artist Point a steakhouse. You should have no problem finding something on the menu that's not steak.

As for YS, they usually offer a fish or chicken course.
