When Peyton popped up unexpectedly on Weekend Update on SNL last night it got me to thinking that it seems like every time I look up I see a Manning!lol

I am even seeing more and more of Cooper!lol

Have we reached a "Manning Saturation Point"?lol

I think a lot of the recently retired sports figures realize they have a limited shelf life of how long they will be in demand so they do commercials and guest appearances to try to maximize their income while still in the public eye. Whether or not a popular sports figure helps a company to sell more hot sauce, beer, corn chips or insurance is really hard to measure.

I felt like that -- hit the saturation point -- years ago when Peyton Manning was in his prime and he had 1000 commercials on TV. Even if you used your DVR you would still seem him on the fast forward. You couldn't escape him. I liked him, but he was everywhere!

About a year after Peyton retired, it dramatically faded. Little flashes here and there when Eli was getting ready to retire, but they were definitely escapable.

Now, I do see a resurgence. The game show, commercials, ets. Hey, I can't knock 'em, they obviously still have a good appeal or they wouldn't get hired. But I definitely have not reached the overload stage like I felt years ago.

On a side note ...

The family still remembers Peyton's Nationwide commercial. "Chicken parm you taste so good" is sung by my husband whenever we have it. :rolleyes2 (lol, I think I am on dh overload):rotfl2::rotfl2:

Agree, and it's not just sports figures. The same is true of musicians, actors, astronauts, and lots of others. LOTS of "brand spokespersons" past their best-used-by dates.

Never!!!

Lol

Archie Manning is a legend in our region. From Mississippi, star quarterback at Ole Miss- some legendary games and seasons, successful quarterback on a never successful New Orleans Saints team, loved for that, all around good guy, family man and father and husband.

We are so proud of his 3 sons who were nurtured to be just good guys-football was second.

The family has done much for the University of Mississippi and the area.

In fact, dh and I watched Espn's documentary on the Manning family last night. It just edified our respect and love for them all the more. It was really well done.

That's the great thing about being able to "Just Say No" (Thanks Nancy Regan) if I don't like something I turn the channel or walk away. Personally, I'll take Manning over the nitwits like Antonio Brown everyday and twice on Sunday... if I cared to watch NFL.

Nope. I went to Tennessee while Peyton was QB. He does a lot for the university still and visits frequently. He also does a lot for the Pat Summitt Foundation for Alzheimer’s since they became good friends while he was at UT. And I wish I could watch every football game in ManningCast—I love it.

I thought it was odd the whole family is in those super annoying Caesar betting app commercials. Really debasing themselves for money, do they need money or recognition that badly? That’s the only place I have seen them lately.
