I am new here, so I haven't read all the boards to see if this was mentioned. We just got back and we had a heck of a time using up our meal credits! I even had to buy 12 snacks to bring home! The desserts were enormous, and many of the CS meals were large enough to split among my 3 kids.

The more we discussed it, my family decided that YES it is worth it... but honestly, I wouldn't ordinarily eat dessert with lunch and dinner AND have a snack each day... so how much are we saving if we eliminate those goodies?

We are kind of wishing there was a "dinner and snack only" option for the meal plan- 1 TS meal and 1 snack/day. That is all we would need. We ate breakfast in our villa most days and since we got a late start, we were satisfied until our dinners, which were on the early side. (4-5pm) At the end we had a ton of CS meals left.

I would love to suggest to Disney that there be some type of donation program. Unused meal credits can be donated to the families of our troops who stay at Shades or Green and are not eligible for the dining plan.

I have teenagers so each needs their own CS and TS meals at this point, but I totally agree with you about the 2 desserts and 1 snack a day - waaaaayyyy to much!!! We used up our snacks for mickey bars, popcorn, drinks, etc. After that we really didn't want desserts. We ended up getting most of our desserts to go and had a huge stack of them back in the room. We finally got smart and got the rice crispie mickey bars as desserts whenever we could. We took them home and gave them away to friends and family as souvenirs.

We shared CS meals and used some of them for hot breakfasts. We also used snacks for breakfast.
Because we stay one more night than we do day, we usually have unused CS credits, but using them for breakfast has helped for that.
We definitely buy things with snack credits to take home, and used a lot of them for bottled water (even with bringing our own, we would run out because of the heat.)
A couple of times we had a child under 3 and we NEVER had to buy them anything out of pocket, they just shared the over abundance of food.
Anyway, all that to say, yup, a lot of food, but if managed a certain way, you can spread it out better, and only ever pay tips for any food that week.
