I ordered my park hoppers from Hotwire, 3 adult and 3 child. In the mail today, I receiced 8 park hoppers 5 adult and 3 child. I called my cc and the confirmed that I had been charged for only 5 hoppers (3 adults and 3 child).

I called Hotwire... they said that I had only been sent a total of 5 hoppers and did not know where the others came from. I tried to explain the situation and asked if I shoudl send back the extra hoppers. They said that I would not be credited for them, because they were non refundable. (I never paid for them)!!!

What would you do in this situation? I tried to return them but Hotwire did not seem interested in getting them back!

I'd return them with a letter stating just what you've posted - you received 2 more than you ordered and that your credit card has already been correctly charged for the ones you did order.

I'd keep a copy of the backs of all 8 tickets as well as the letter. I'd probably also send it back with a request for signature confirmation of receipt.

Sometimes, you do what is right just because it is the right thing to do and because that is how you were raised.

Aren't you glad you don't own Hotwire and have to put up with an employee who doesn't care and doesn't listen?

Best wishes -

Beautifully said, CarolMN. Its good to read that honest people still walk this earth. I hope you have a wonderful Disney Day and may your thoughts rub off on some of us (and this of course includes me!!!)

How does the receipt read? You need to be very careful to send back the right 2 passes. Say if you lost a hopper and went to get it replaced and showed the WDW CM your receipt, they can verify your pass has X days left on it. If you send the wrong pass back and they put in a # and see it has been totally used you're out a pass.

I had this happen to me once at the bank. The teller gave me too much money when I cash some checks. I kept insisting for 20 minutes that he gave me too much, but he kept telling me I was wrong. Due to the line behind me, at that point I said ok, and was prepared to call customer service. When I called the bank later on, they had already adjusted my account for the difference. So, I would check my credit card bill at the end of the month, then send them back.. That way, you can address the situation properly, and you don't end up with them recharging in error.

This also happened to me at a bank, I deposited a check for $2700 and $27,000 was put in. Almost 30 days went by before they found that error. This was uncomfortable for me because I knew that there are certain people you just don't mess with and since my husband once worked at a bank he warned me that the error would eventually be corrected and if I took any monies out that didn't belong the Federal government (bank monies are backed up by the government) I used my other account until the bank figured out there mistake. Although this of course is quit different, I believe in korma and admire the stand that CarolMN has taken and wished we could all be this honest.

Something similar happened to me last year. I ordered 10 Q&C Vouchers from connections. A week later I received 10 in the mail. A couple of days later, I recieved 10 more. I called, and they said they had only sent 10. I checked my credit card and had only been charged for 10. I was afraid to send them back, because I thought they might get lost in the shuffle. Especially since they would not assure that I would the credit. About two weeks later a new charge appeared on my credit card for the other 10. It worked out.

I have the receipt/confirmation from Hotwire that I printed out when I placed the order for the tickets... I think that I will take all of the tickets with us to Florida just in case two were not activated or Hotwire somehow realized their error. Like a previous poster said, I would not want to find out two of the passes are not any good when I get there.

Thanks from your advice. I am going to give them a call tomorrow and see if I can't get this straightened out. I don't really want to spend a lot of time on the phone trying to work this out, but I will give it one more try. We will see what happens. I don't want to be billed for the extra hoppers, especially since I did not order them!

I would be afraid I'd end up being charged for the extra two passes, which we all know, are not cheap. I agree, if you are going soon to WDW, don't do anything more than you've already done becaus of fear of losing the valid tickets you already have. Upon return, get a certified letter mailer from the post office. Write the receipt number onto your letter to Hotwire. Then send the letter explaining their error again and that you called to correct the problem with no solution offered. Of course, keep a copy. If they do not send you an answer on how to return them and you get charged, at least you have a copy of the letter that you tried. I would not send the tickets in the letter because what if an unscrupulous employee opens it and just keeps the tickets.

(The reason you write the certified letter ID Number onto the letter is so they can't claim that the certified letter you sent was something totally different from what you claim.)

This has nothing to do with the subject ~ but, it has made me smile to remember something that happened to me once. My Mom had ordered my two little boys (this was years ago) each a bean bag chair from Penneys. They called that the order had arrived and I went down to pick them up. The order was 2 HUGE, HEAVY boxes that I could barely fit in my car! I got them home and my husband had to carry them into the house - I just could not pick them both up again and carry them up the stairs. Penneys had sent us 2 microwave ovens instead of bean bag chairs!! :hyper: I had to pack them both back into the car and get them back to the store. When I told them what had happened, I guess they could not understand the mistake and they wanted to know why I wanted to return 2 perfectly good microwaves! :) It took me about 1/2 an hour to get them to understand they were not mine!! We still chuckle about that one.... ::yes::

This type of thing happened to my aunt when she ordered Disney tickets from Ticketmania. She received two extra tixs and brought them with her to WDW...come to find out, they were not activated. She noticed that nothing was printed on the back, either.

I just got off the phone (again) with Hotwire - they truely don't seem too interested in this situation. I guess that is to my benefit... I feel like I tried.

I am going to take ALL the passes with me to Disney. (to make sure that they work) They all look the same (they all have 5 day park hopper printed on the back and the same code..)

Isn't there a way that you can see how many days a pass has on it? I may check all the tickets before we try to use any.

2 weeks to the MOUSE!!!

I do think that they will realize their error sooner or later. What if the opposite had occured? What if I had ordered tickets and gotten 2 less then I ordered? There has to be a system of checks and balances, although I find it interesting that there was no invoice in the envelope that I received.

I'm not sure if they can do it at the Disney Store but I know they can at the check in at any Disney Resort. I found I had one day each on my four remaining Hopper Passes when I checked into the All-Star Movies.
