Hi! We'll be going down for the first time this Oct during FD. It'll be me, DH and our 2 DD's (ages6 1/2 and just 5y). Please tell me if I have too many character meals planned.....we're not going down for fine dining, but want to make sure we don't get character overload either!

Sat Oct 3...dinner at Garden grill
Sun...dinner at 1900PF
Mon...8am brkfst CP
6:50 CM (will probably cancel due to not wanting to miss Spectro and no one seems to be taking me up on my trading offer)
Tues...8:10 TH
possibly a 1:25 TH to get the Nemo pkg(undecided)
Wed...Coral Reef noon
PSB 6:30
Thu...Tony's dinner before MNSSHP
Fri...all CS but the 2 girls will go to Wonderland Tea Party

so, most likely I'll be cancelling the 6:50CM.....are all the others do-able?

All looks good. I just hate to see you cancel the best one and that's CM'S.
Love CM'S.

I dont think thats "too many". We do mostly character meals because at this age thats what DS2 is into.

Garden Grill is one of our favorites!

I don't think you can ever have too many character meals with a 5 and 6 year old :)

I wouldn't cancel Chef Mickeys yet, keep trying to get a swap and seeing if any availability comes open, 45 days prior there can be cancellations for people who have had to unfortunately cancel their trips. Just keep trying as it was my DD5's favourite character meal in Feb.

If your kids like the characters and you guys are satisfied with the food - then I don't think there is any such thing as too many character meals.

We are going for 8 days and are doing CRT, Crystal Palace, CM, Tusker House, 'Ohana Breakfast (the guys), Princess Storybook Breakfast (the girls), and Garden Grill. The only TS meals we are doing that are not character meals are 50's Prime Time on our arrival date and Tutto Italia (on the same day we are doing the 'Ohana/Princess Storybook breakfasts).

Our kids (7 and 3) are really into characters right now and will have a blast at the meals. Plus, we should be able to get pictures/autographs with all of the main characters while sitting in nice, air conditioned buildings and eating, which means way less time standing in long, hot lines at the parks to get those same pictures and autographs.

Thanks for all of your replies. I've been sitting on that CM's for about 2 wks now, waiting for a trade for an earlier time. You're right though....I should wait to see if people cx at the 45 day mark. Thanks for your advice. Looks like my girls will be enjoying a lot of character interaction that week!

Character meals are a great way to interact with the characters and get autographs. We would rather see them at a meal; then you don't spend time during the day waiting in lines. Enjoy your trip!

Here is the question - what are you going to Disney to do?

Plan on each character meal taking about two hours - character meals often take a little longer than other site down meals.

If you are at Disney to see characters, character meals are a wonderful use of your time. The food doesn't tend to be great, but its edible. And you can easily spend two hours every day in line to see characters.

If you are at Disney to "do everything" - it isn't possible in a week - and you have to make choices. Personally, I wouldn't do that many character meals because if I'm going to spend time eating, I want the food to be better. And if I'm not going to be eating good food, I'd rather be doing something other than characters. We are, however, a 'limited character' family - but we are a "must get to the waterpark, have a long must list of attractions, must eat two GOOD meals (signature meals)" family, and MUST get enough sleep and pool time on vacation family - so characters aren't a priority for us.

We're not really "I gotta do this/that" people. We're hitting every park one day, no park hoppers (sun=hs,mon=mk,tues=ak,wed=epcot,th=?park then MNSSHP,fri=prob mk w/ wond.tea party at 2 with DtD to follow). the only 'have to's' are spectro/wishes on Mon and then hallowishes. I'd like to see the 3pm parades in the other parks while we're there, but if not, no biggie. Both my girls totally believe that the characters are real....so I think I'm gonna go w/ the advice of the majority and keep all my char.ADRs. Thanks for your input everyone! Hopefully I can get an earlier CM on Oct 5th so we can still make spectro!

I think you can never have too many character meals. My son enjoys them so we try to have them as many as we can a day...breakfast and lunch. I think you should keep CM. We had a CM reservation for 6:30 and we decided to go to the restaurant as they are openning and talk to a cm and asked them if it possible to sit us sooner than are ADR and they sitted us w/i 5 mins...you can try to do that and still go back to MK.
