we shall have three cabins in a row, 2 connected and 1 adjoining, on the Fantasy. Can the separating verandah dividers be removed from all three cabins? Is this something I can do myself or do I really need an attendant to take care of? Also, do I prearrange for this or call up during hectic sail away day?
BTW, I used to use the search engine in Disboards frequently but I seem to not be able to navigate them as well as in the old days.......

old n cranky, that's me....

On the Fantasy, most dividers can be opened. Someone recently posted a photo of the verandas for either 3 or 4 rooms opened. Unfortunately, I can't remember which thread I saw that in. There are a handful of rooms where the dividers cannot be opened because the dividers are part of the steel structure of the ship and not the normal verandah dividers. Your stateroom host must open them for you. Just ask on embarkation day.

As noted all verandah dividers open (but are not removable), except for on deck 10, some dividers don't open due to the structure of the ship:

You can ask on embarkation day. We usually find out host/hostess so we can introduce ourselves, ask for ice each day, let them know our drop-down bed preferences, etc. The host/hostess has to open the dividers with a special tool.

How do you know if your room has the movable partition or the solid one? I mean when booking, not after you've boarded.

If you look at the pictures of the ship showing the room numbers:

You can see (on deck 10) just below the pool deck where the superstructure of the ship runs from under the pool deck down the verandahs on deck 10. Those partitions are the non-opening ones (every other one).

That's what I was afraid of. We've booked Fantasy 9112 and 9114 and wanted to open the verandah. So it looks like we'll have that 2 foot metal structure, which never bothers people when it's at the side of their verandah, but it will be essentially in the middle of our view.

Rookie mistake that I won't make again. I do wish my TA had caught it, though. I'll be changing TAs for my next cruise for sure (assuming all the vacation stars align that is).

Don't know that you can really blame the TA. That's not really something that would typically be asked about, I think.

And getting the answer from DCL is practically impossible. So they might not know.

TAs sometimes get a bad image if they don't know all the answers to all the questions. But they're learning something new every day, also.

HEY!! You're on deck 9 - it's only deck 10 that has the non-opening dividers.

Don't get me wrong, my TA is very nice and very helpful. I am the rookie, here. I went to her without much knowledge about anything. I didn't even know to look to see which lines they promote.... not Disney. She was happy to book a Disney cruise for me, but she predominately books RCCL and Carnival. They didn't have any additional perks, and weren't knowledgeable about things like deck 10 rooms possibly being noisier than deck 9, for example. So when I booked, I asked, while the DCL rep was on the line, 'does the balcony open?'. That would have been the time to tell me that it does, but it has an obstruction. Like you say, though (and again, as a newbie, I didn't know this), the CMs on the phone may only have a ship deck plan in front of them, and not ever been on the ship, themselves. That alone makes me guess all the info I have on my rooms, vs what I keep finding on the internet.

Anyway, I don't think I have any hope of finding two 4A connecting rooms on that sailing now, as I booked months ago and pickins' seem rather slim. I'm looking at it as a barrier to prevent my teens from falling over when they come around the half wall that will still be present, because it looks like the decks still open up, they'll just have this facade barrier for the view. I'm staying positive. :)

I will try to take pics and post them, as there are no pics of that particular view anywhere. I expect it's a pretty particular situation, as most people probably aren't booking connecting rooms. Not going until next year, though, so no pics any time soon.

And for those of you wishing to join the "veranda club" :rolleyes2 your veranda is not as private as you think as someone can lean over and take photos.

things like deck 10 rooms possibly being noisier than deck 9,
Well, that's not exactly true. We had a deck 10 room (located under the starboard entry to Cabanas) that was infinitely quieter than our deck 9 midship (located between staterooms).

Yes, deck 10 we had some noise, mostly running feet, but not at night so much. And we could sorta hear the bass during the Pirate night after party.

BUT - on DECK 9!!!!! OMG, there was some group that seemed to feel that running foot races was the only way to get up and down the passageway on deck 10 (at any time of day or night). And we were between 2 connecting rooms on one side that had kids who felt that running laps through the connecting door and verandah divider was sooooo much fun (shrieking the whole time). On the other side we had 3 connecting rooms that someone (not sure if it was kids or not) felt jumping off the upper bunk bed was the only way to get down.
