Too late to celebrate birthday?

My daughter's birthday is August 2nd, but we don't arrive until the 14th. Has too much time passed for us to add her birthday to our ADRs?

We were there last year for her birthday and she had a wonderful time with the little bit of extra attention. Would love to go earlier in August, but I think it would be rude to skip my niece's wedding to go to Disney instead. ;)

I think that is fine to celebrate when u get there. There was another post about celebrating later on the boards recently. Most people agreed yes. My feeling is they ask u usually on the ADR and room reservation if u r celebrating something. I am truly of the belief that if u r going to Disney and u have just had or will have a special occasion celebrate there as well. We all know celebrating at a place like Disney makes it extra special and most of us do not have the luxury of going there on our actual birtdays ete. because of work school etc. I say have fun and let your daughter celebrate with MICKEY.

I choose to keep my opinion on this subject to myself but just know you have opened a can of worms.

Thanks disgirl!

It's her Sweet 16 this year so we were hoping to do something a little more special. Like I said, we'd go earlier in August, but we can't miss my niece's wedding especially since DD is in it and my sister would kill me.

I didn't realize there was a thread going already, I was able to find it after doing a search. Just looking thru the posts, I didn't see it since it was way back in January (I believe).

Don't mean to "open a can of worms", just wanted to be sure I wasn't going to be stepping on any toes. I guess I could always call the Disney dining people and get their opinion.

You can celebrate whatever you want, whenever you want. Disney doesn't ask for proof that it's someone's birthday. It's Disney...they like to celebrate everything. You could even put her birthday on every ADR if you wanted.

And make sure you pick up a birthday pin at Guest Services. My husband wore one on our last trip (his bday was our last day of the trip) and everyone wished him a happy birthday. He was like a kid again.

(Just read the other post about "opening a can of worms". Never realized this was a hot button topic.)

You definitely should celebrate no matter that you arrive "after". DH and I celebrate our May anniversary every year at Disney..in September. Unfortunately we can't go in May due to baseball (we are making exception next year for our 30th); in fact, the CM's have always encouraged us to wear our pins every day of the trip.

Last summer DD5 and I both celebrated our bdays at WDW. My bday was 5 days before check in, but hers was in the middle of our trip. We wore our buttons every single day...well, except on her actual bday when she just wore hers and the night we celebrated for me and only I wore mine. I declined most cupcakes, but they brought them anway. This upcoming trip, we're going for DD3's 4th bday. We're surprising her w/the trip on her bday and arriving at WDW about 10 days later. I'd love to be there on her actual bday, but celebrating at WDW 10 days after the fact is a far better answer (due to the potential legal consquences w/my older one missing school) than pulling DD5 out of school.

I mean, it's not like the old free day promotion. THe reality is that lots of people celebrate for their bdays, but for one reason or another can't celebrate on their actual bday. I'm sure most parents who give their kids bday parties often push the party to the weekend or even a more convenient weekend vs. having it mid week to accomodate everyone's work, school and activities schedules.

So, in light of all of this...I think you're just fine.:goodvibes

We celebrated our anniversary one month early to the date on our trip last month. We will celebrate 12 years this Sunday. They do not ask for id to make sure.

My 15th anniversary present from my husband is a 8 day trip to WDW, complete with dining, flowers, park tickets etc. for the three of us (our DS is coming.). Our anniversary is in December but since we are teachers with two separate campuses that have two different weeks for spring break (and I teach summer session as well) the earliest we could go was the first week in August. So guess what? That's when we are celebrating!

15 years of marriage, in our country, is a big milestone. Your darned right we're celebrating. :) Thankfully, Disney agrees!

I put on my one ADR that it's my mother's Birthday (75th birthday). It also helped when I made the cake reservation last week with the folks at Contemporary Special Dining. I would be among those who usually wouldn't make a big deal about it. I couldn't give mom the usual dinner on her birthday in May to make sure I had money for the trip. She's very excited about dining at the Wave for her 75th birthday dinner.

I dont think its a problem at all! DBF and I's anniversery is Nov. 2nd but we cant go to WDW until Nov. 29th and we are planning to celebrate ALL 15 days of our trip. Its the whole reason were even going in the first place! Disney loves celebrations so just enjoy your trip!!!! :cool1:

Thanks to all of you for your answers! We are going to celebrate her birthday. We don't need the cupcakes so I'm not looking for a freebie of anything. Believe it or not, she's not a big cake eater. What she loved last year was eating dinner on her birthday at the Crystal Palace with Pooh (her absolute favorite) and friends and getting a card from them.

Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary and Happy Celebrations to everyone this year! :cheer2:

No cupcake at Boma, but this is what they presented to hubby instead for his birthday. He loved it. (It's a slab on which they wrote Happy Birthday Michael in chocolate and then there were some cookies, gummie bears, Mickey candy confetti and I think, a zebra dome.)

At Chef Mickey's, he got the cupcake, but also a placemat signed by all the characters. We still have that.

It was just so fun to celebrate and it wasn't about getting stuff for free either.

I was hoping to celebrate DS's birthday when we go in March. We will be there March 10-16, but DS's birthday isn't until March 30. I'm not looking for anything for free at all. I just want DS to feel special. It's his first trip ever and he will be turning 7 on the 30th. I hope it's not an issue....I just thought this could make his first trip even more special, and because of the timing of the trip we won't be having the huge birthday party we usually have for him every year. So instead, I thought it would be great to celebrate while we were there.

School & fall activities prevent us from arriving for 2 birthdays and an anniversary that all occur in the same week in our house. I won't pull DS out of school to go to WDW, but I have no problem celebrating our "happies" a few weeks early.

WHen I add the celebrations to our ADR's, they ask the actual dates and we tell them. Nobody taking our info has ever questioned our celebrating early, I suspect it's done quite often :goodvibes

Plus  celebrating so many things makes me feel better about spending all that money :dance3:
