We are thinking of planning a trip late June/ early July. I might be open to tent camping at The Fort. My hubby is concerned that it will be too hot to be comfortable sleeping. Advice? Would it be better to find a hotel off property for budget reasons?

I shouldn't be to hot, but you won't know till the time comes. You can't count on the weather.

This is usually when we camp at Disney, but... Yes it is hot if that is what you are asking. I'm from the south so doesn't bother me like it may some people, and we are used to camping & being at the lake all summer long. It is humid and usually it will rain for an hour in the afternoon. Your typical summer weather. We enjoy our vacation in the summer and visiting the water parks, pools etc. You just have to plan and prepare for the heat just like you do the cold. LOL!

Years ago we camped in a pop up at Disney (about 6 times) without air condition, and you will need a fan(we had 2) running all the time, and be prepared for rain. I saw someone post a picture of a nice set up of a tent under an easy up awning. This would help with rain and heat! We have air condition in our camper now. But still plan on eating indoors, seeing shows in afternoon to escape heat, if we are at theme parks. Bring lots of sunscreen and drink lots of water in the parks.

My husband and I were at Universal Studios over Labor Day(2014) and heat seemed worse to me than being at Disney over July 4th. Following week we were at Disney and Disney is just more prepared with places to rest from heat and sun in my opinion.

Late June or early July? It will be hot, you can count on that, but not miserably hot. We went in early June 2012 and it was low 90's every day at the peak of the day. You can google average temps in the Orlando area and take a look at what they report. The averages are low 90's for highs and low 70's for lows. There is usually a good breeze blowing so it helps.

Southern Bell brings up a good point about easy up awnings helping with the rain and heat. Some people also report using AC units in their tents. Last year I bought an upright 12000 BTU AC unit for my shop and found it works really nice in my 4 man tent as well since it has a flexible exhaust vent that I was able to direct outside the tent without having to cut any holes or make any alterations.

Too hot? For me yes. For others, seems not. There are plenty of tents at The Fort year round.
