Too Far to Walk?

We leave in a little over 3 weeks for DLR and we're staying at the Anaheim Marriott. We won't have a car and I've been told that the area is pretty walkable. Should we get the shuttle transportation for our stay or is the distance to the main gates and Downtown Disney a reasonable walk? It will be me, DH and 3 teenagers.

Going by mapquest, its about a mile. So, you are looking at about 20 minutes to walk one way. Probably not bad in the morning, but I wouldnt want to add that to the end of a 15-16 hours day in the parks! And, it would really limit how many times we "ran" back to the hotel for a rest or change of clothes. In all honesty, my family would use the shuttle for that distance, but our kids are only 4 and 7.
