Too early to book AKL for Dec? and UT question . . .

We are going 11/27 - 12/8 and staying in a Standard room at AKL. I just looked on UnderCover Tourist and the 'room-only' price for those 11 nights is $3481+tax. I found 10day base tickets on AllEars.net thru their MapleLeaf link for $408 (cheaper than UT which were $414). Total for both of us $4309.
The UT AKL room says 'nonrefundable' . . . do I take that to mean that there is no way to get money back if something happened where were needed to cancel? What if we had trip insurance? And is it too early to book AKL for Dec? Should I try and see what the packages will be?

Just FYI, AAA quoted me $5124 for same room and 10 day hopper tickets. And $4977 for resort and 10day base tickets

Usually, nonrefundable means a final transaction, yes. You would have to see if trip insurance would cover.

It's not too early to book for December, but if you want to wait to see if that discount would be better, you can... at a risk of losing this one.

What's the price for that room going directly through Disney?

I just did my own search for those dates and it shows a standard room for $3915.90 with free cancellation until 11/21. I can't even find a page that has nonrefundable options. Hmm.

Even their FAQ about Disney hotels states that it's changeable.

So alas I can't do research (I live to find and read the fine print!) because I don't know how you got that rate or a ninrefundable option. Drat!

That said, nonrefundable things are exactly what trip insurance is for.

I just looked up the UT quote and it says, "Free cancellation by November 21, 2017. After this date, a cancellation fee of $195.80 will apply.*
*Additional cancellation fees may apply for reservations canceled less than 24 hours to arrival." Also, with tax it's giving me a price of $3915.90. It looks like you have to pay in full, though.

On the WDW site, I'm getting a price of $4122, with a deposit of $364.50, cancellation by November 22. IMHO, I would book with WDW and wait to see if any room-only discounts come out.

Nice advice . . . thank you. So you would go ahead and buy the 10 day base tickets and go ahead and book a room at AKL thru WDW in hopes of a room only discount? I'm new to this . . . do they offer room-only discounts or are they more likely to offer a full package discount? Just wondering if I should hold off on tickets too? The 10day base tickets on MapleLeaf Tickets is $408 (at the older WDW price). And I just found them even cheaper on OrlandoFunTickets.com

I would not book with UT to save $200.00. I woudl book with WDW and see if discounts come through. I also would wait for tickets, And see if the discounts offered need to have tix added to the package.
