Too bad this wasn't posted on the DIS

Hey, I'm from South Jersey too! LBI...Beach Haven.

There's whackos in Jersey?

Thanks! I didn't realize you could do it that way too. I have only done it from clicking on the title on the page with the list of threads.

It's a good thing this person doesn't live in Bergen County, NJ, where almost ALL the stores, (except gas stations and a few others,) are closed on Sundays. They still observe the Blue laws.

Yes, it is a zoo to find parking on Saturdays. Some of those un-kept women ;) have probably done time for murder for killing to get a parking spot. :p

I was going to say the same thing! Here in Bergen County,NJ usually only the grocery stores, gas stations, and a few other small stores are open on Sunday. However, no clothing or electronics (big or small) are allowed to be sold so no stores that sell that stuff are open and either is the mall, even those areas in Costco are roped off. Actually, I don't mind not having all that mall traffic on Sundays( although it would be nice for them to lift the Blue Law between Thanksgiving and Christmas). I like the Rockaway Mall better anyway and it's in Morris county so it's open on sunday.

I want to be a Kept woman, but DH says he's surprised he's kept me this much! :) Plus, gotta work to feed my scrapping habit. So I can shop at those horrible stores closed Sundays!

Apparently you don't realize it when you actually live in Jersey, it takes moving out of state and then coming back to visit to realize that us NJersians are indeed whackos.

Oh I miss going to LBI too. I miss the Jersey shore in general. MA beaches just aren't the same.

Never been, is it nice? Wildwood is becoming a but scary but we still love the boardwalk.

Yes, Ocean City is wonderful. Very clean, and family oriented. It's a "dry town." No liquor bought within the city limits or guzzling on the beaches. LOTS of liquor stores & restaurants which serve liquor at the edge of town. But, that's what keeps the atmosphere from getting all seedy like Wildwood.

We have several past threads here raving about it. You can do a search for Ocean City. Just make sure they are ones for NJ and not the O.C. in MD. :)

I can't seem to find anyone long enough to keep me Kept.....so I must work. I do long to be one of those SAHM that can shop all day.

Oh we realize it but, we're all a little off so we figure no one notices!:)

Not anymore, I moved. :rotfl2:

I know and of course there is only one near me at the mall about 30 mins away. I may need to take a ride there tomorrow.

Wait, what? there is a chik - fil- a in the northeast that I don't know about??? Detail! I want details!!!

I will search!
I loved Wildwood but not so much anymore. My aunt used to own an italian bakery there but she finally sold it, they couldn't take the changes anymore.

I like LBI, too. We stayed at a place in Loveladies. The friend was a huge architect on the island. His place was gorgeous. :faint:

Oh, we had a thread about a while ago, where someone wondered why a SAHM needed to have dry cleaning delivered, since they didn't have anything else to do all day. The Mods were kept busy during that thread. :duck:

It is in the Burlington Mall in MA. The first time I went there and found out it was there I really wanted to go up and start hugging the employees I was so happy.

Ha...I posted on that thread.

I had no idea I was a kept woman! Sweet.

However, this "kept woman" has a tendency to wait and do shopping on weekends, even though it's insane, just to avoid having to spend several hours shopping with a whining 4 year old tagging along.

P.S. I'm sure a better parent could stop the whining, but I haven't solved that one yet. Well, maybe I have. I leave her with her daddy.

::yes::

:wave2: And I exercise the right of neighboring state being able to rag on neighboring state.

:thumbsup2 Sounds like you figured it out.

Of course, you could say, since you stay at home, you have plenty of time to figure that out. ;)

2 hours, that's it?!?! A 2 hour drive? I can do that!!!

We go to the Cape just to eat lunch at Brazilian Grill!

ETA: you are my new BFF!!!!

I'm changing my job description from SAHM to Kept Woman.

As a mom I don't get any days off. Maybe kept women have a more liberal vacation policy.

I'm kind of madly in love with "kept woman" as well.

I really wanted a day off today. DS is being whiny and sassy (never thought I'd be annoyed at sass but wowie I am!) though he apologizes right after whatever he says...and DH really needed to eat (blood sugar stuff, and we'd just worked out for an hour after he got home from work) and wasn't reacting well....I truly kept thinking "calgon take me away"....

I don't like shopping at places that are closed on Sunday either, but honestly, I'd rather just move OUT of a blue law area place.... That said, WA still has some funky ones about pubs vs bars and where a minor can go, but it's nothing compared to South Carolina so I'm OK.

Wait? they are open but close off 1/2 the store?? That's crazy!

I remember thoroughly embarrassing myself early on in SC...wondered why the lights were off in the beer section at Piggly Wiggly, did my shopping, but was denied the purchase. :)

Children really do enjoy shopping all day, let me tell you! :)

I "keep" myself by working for my own money, does that make me a kept woman, too?

I am still so shocked when people from other lands mention these laws. Never grew up with them, have no idea why they exist. It sounds so backwards to me but to each, their own. I would imagine stores here would go out of business if they had to not sell something or close one day a week or whatever it is.

We do have Chik-Fil-A here, but only in one or two malls about 30 minutes from here so their closing on Sundays isn't really noticed much.
