My children (ages 12 and 15) and I ate here on our last visit in May, 2007 and I'll be going back this May with my boyfriend.

The food here was excellent, but the thing that impressed me the most was the special treatment my son received from the chef. Nick ordered a seafood pasta dish which included mussels, squid, etc. and I was somewhat surprised. He's a pretty imaginative eater, but I wondered if he would actually eat it. He told me he's eaten mussels before, but when they arrived they looked differently from what he was used to and the waitperson overheard him mention that to me. She was sweet enough to offer to get the chef to answer any question my son had. We both said it wasn't necessary, that he was perfectly happy but just commenting to me about the dish. She went and got the chef anyway though and he was terrific. I figured he would be thinking, "Oh no, some dorky kid wants to know about the mussels", but he was very friendly and interested and talked to my son about the preparation and what sort of foods he liked. It was so kind of him to be bothered like that during a busy dinner service and not only tolerate it, but seem to welcome a young man's curiosity. Because of the delicious dinner and especially the excellent service, I've already made a reservation to return to Tony's on my next trip.

On a side note: Nancy Kerrigan, the Olympic figure skater was at the next table with her family that night.

Thanks for your review of Tony's I'm glad you enjoyed it.
We also had an Excellent Meal there on our last trip.
Very Friendly Staff!
We look forward to eatting there on our upcoming trip.

it's so nice to see a good review from Tony's! It's one of our traditions as a family to eat there and I think the food is pretty good! All I ever hear are bad reviews of the place and how it's not "real" Italian food (and maybe it isn't but I still think it's good!).

thanks for posting!

Thanks for your responses.

I really liked Tony's and thought the food was very good, and it was traditional Italian/American cuisine, not traditional Italian cuisine you'd expect in Italy. Restaurants that serve the genuine cuisine of Italy are few and far between, despite how much they may declare they are authentically Italian. In fact, marinara sauce isn't authentically Italian. Marinara only was created after the Spanish introduced the tomato to Italy and what passes for marinara in this country - even in those so-called authentic restaurants, is pretty far from what you'd get in Italy. :) As you may be able to figure out from my user name, when I want "real" Italian cooking, I make it myself. :) As an Italian/American restaurant, Tony's is just fine.

Theme wise, one thing that some visitors may miss is a blue window in the restaurant. If you look out of it, you see Lady and the Tramp eating their spaghetti. I think many people miss this theming because the window is on a back wall, inside one of the corner booths. They should try to move that to a more prominent location so it can be appreciated.

really nice to hear a positive review we are hoping to eat here on our forthcoming trips and a few of the negative comments had got me questioning my choices. Your post has reinstored my faith in my choice so Thanks!!

Tony's is a must do for us! We love it! Ask for Mark Anthony - he's an awesome waiter!

I agree, Tony's Town Square always seems to get bad reviews and I love it.
I love hearing positive reviews about it and we've never had bad service there and their food has always been satisfactory. Sounds like you and your son had an extra magical experience with the chef! That's great!
