Beginning the initial planning for our next trip

We will be on DDP

Thoughts on Plaza vs Tony's?- We have never ate at either (and have dined at all the other table services in MK)

thnx!

Both are good. Although the Plaza is table service I kind of view the Plaza as a step above counter service and not quite full meal table service like Tonys or LTT. It is more of a burger/sandwich and ice cream shop.

Why not try a monorail resort restaurant? Like Kona, or O'hana...?

We really enjoyed the plaza as well... but it really isn't a table service in my mind. We are makingaADRs for there but paying OOP. Don't know why they don't just count it as a counter service place.

We like the Plaza but really enjoy Tony's. So to answer your question, I would say go with Tony's....the food and service are wonderful, plus the atmosphere inside Tony's is so cute with the Lady and the Tramp decor.

We really like Tony's - have been there several times with great service. This time we're trying The Plaza for the first time though..lol :)

thanks everyone - Tony's makes more sense with the Dining plan (The plaza has the prices of a counter service instead of a table service ??) - but my hubby really wanted to order that banana split at the Plaza :)

DH is really picky and I don't think he would like Ohana - any other suggestions for monorail restuarants with two boys 6/8?

- Chef Mickey's
- 1900 Park Fare

Both Character meal buffets.

Tony's gets my family's :thumbsup2

It was the first restaurant that both DS and DH asked me to make adr's for.

Either stick with Tony's (Plaza is good for a lunch, decent burgers and desserts, but not worth the full credit for a dinner), or go to Kona Cafe at the Poly. Another alternative would be the Grand Floridian Cafe, but it didn't wow us, I would still pick Tony's over GF Cafe. If your picky husband likes the Kona menu, go for that!

The Plaza is connected to the Ice Cream Parlor next door, and most of the ice cream offerings at the Plaza come from them; so you should be able to order a banana spilt from the ice cream parlor.

Hi cjemscott ,
I vote for Tony's. I have enjoyed several meals there and have always enjoyed it.

As far as monorail restaurants I would suggest Kona Cafe (Poly), The Wave (CR) or Grand Floridian Cafe. Whatever you decide have a wonderful trip. :thumbsup2

I just posted a new review of Tonys in my May 11 thread..it was good but not as wonderful as our last 4 meals there.

I like the Plaza alot, they have the best fries in all of WDW!

Yes it is just sandwiches but the Plaza is so small its like a little Oasis of calm inside the MK. When we were there a citizen of main street came in and sang. She was wearing a huge yellow dress and as DD loves yellow she was really sweet to DD posing with her and fussing over DS. The food was piping hot, service awesome and the double fried fries.....

Although DH and I did have a great dinner at Tonys too. - eek way back in 04! Think its time to re-do that one!

Last time we ate lunch at the Plaza I had meatloaf, mashed potatoes & gravy and green beans.

I vote for Tony's. If you are going in the fall, the pumpkin cheesecake is great and comes with sugar art of Lady & the Tramp.

For a character breakfast, Chef Mickey's is so much fun!

Tony's was one of the worst meals we've had in our 10 day trip. Funny, the other day i asked my son which restaurant had the worst food...without skipping a beat he said Tony's. It was awful. I had the chicken parm, gross. I think their tomato sauce is what grossed me out. And i tried my son's meatball....i couldnt even swallow it. I had to spit it into a napkin. I managed to email a complaint about the place and i actually got $ back for my meal. From what i've seen, people who have ordered other things like steak (non-tomato sauce based meals) seemed to really enjoy their meals. So if you do go, stay away from the tomato sauce. I would still recommend Plaza thou.
