Tony's Town Square - really that bad??

Oh great! Two other restaurants we're trying out this visit!!:headache:

We love CM for breakfast and thought dinner would be good. I've heard many people compare it to the Crystal Palace's dinner (which we love).

I've also heard only positive things about Garden Grill. We sat on the bus next to a family that wouldn't stop raving about the dinner they just had there.

Ugh! Now I'm nervous with all three! Thanks!:scared1:

FWIW, we have also always loved CM's for breakfast and tried it for dinner in December. We all loved it! (All being dh, me, dd-6yo and ds-2yo)

The character interaction was FIRST RATE...best non "human" character interaction our entire trip. The food was yummy and we all had a great time.

Conversely, we also tried CP for the very first time...also for dinner. The food was okay..not bad but nothing to write home about. The character interaction was no more than a signature in our autograph books and a pose for a photo. :sad2:

The worst thing about CP though was the service. It was ds' 2nd birthday (actual day of, not just "celebrating" it) and our waitress brought him a signed card and a cupcake, which was great, but she brought it FIVE minutes after she took our drink orders!! You try and get a 2yo to eat his dinner w/ a chocolate cupcake sitting in front of him! I had to hide the darn thing after he blew out the candle to get anything other than sugar in him!

Dd and I are trying Tony's this summer when we go for her birthday. It wouldn't have been somewhere I would have picked to dine at, based upon reviews I've read/heard, but she wants to eat there for her birthday dinner (the whole Lady and the Tramp thing) so we're going. I hope it will be a great experience for her!

I was just reading the DISboards dining review of TTS and it's awful! Is the food really that bad?? We've never eat there and needed a TS in MK, so I made ADR, now I'm wondering if I should change my plans??:confused3

We ate there last week and I did not like it....I have eaten in much better Italian restaurants at home....but remember this is theme park food....the menu is limited and not so great. It is very loud and noisy....eating on the porch is a good view if you can get it and if you can get it during Spectro magic even better....although people may get in your way.....I understand that you needed an ADR at the MK and the only other choice is Liberty... which I dont like either.....

I ate at Chef Mickeys, breakfast and dinner, Garden Grill, and Tony's this trip. To be really truthful the only restaurant that I have ever had dinner or breakfast in that I would say was AWFUL was Sci Fi and that was four years ago. These restaurants, while they are not my favorites in the world, are not that terrible where you will gag or spit your food out. It's a theme park....IMHO....the hotels have much better food choices....but sometimes you have to eat in the theme park. I think what gets me is the over $100 that I pay for the family of four to eat....If you know what I mean.

I don't think you should change your ADR based on what others think. Every place is worth a try at least once so you can develop your own opinion.
That being said, we love Tony's and do it every trip. The food has always been good and we've never had bad service.

I agree with DisneyGirlie. We had a wonderful meal at Tony's for our 10th Anniversary! The service was great! They sprinkled our table with Mickey confetti and sang to us with violins and all! It was so nice. My DH loved the tiramisu, his favorite! We also like Chef Mickey's, not so much for food, but atmosphere!:)

In a word Tony's is "YUCK"! But we did have good service on both trips and it was fun to eat in MK.

I contemplated getting rid of our Tony's ADR but decided to keep it. Really, it takes food being really, really bad (like spoiled bad :lmao: ) in order for us to not like it. I'll try anything once, kwim ...

I agree 100%. Everyone has different likes and dislikes and different tastes. What one person hates, another person will love. It's just the way of things. In the same note, don't book a place just because the reviews are good. Think about what kind of foods you like and book around that, not what other people say.

My thoughts exactly.

Well said! 100% agree!

Over the years that I have been going it has gotten progressivly worse

Took friends there for our last meal of our trip let me say I am still disappointed about it:sad2:

The food was terrific as was the service. We were on free dining and we tipped extra it was so delicious. And the portions were HUGE.

We also went to the SciFi Dine In. Never again. We were so disappointed. The ambience is awesome, the food horrific.
My dh and I had some butcher steak thing. It was as hard as shoe leather. The veggies were still semi-frozen and the potatoes were cold.
My dd had a caesar salad with no dressing and it took forever for the server to come back with some. It was pretty busy in there though.
I will say the milkshakes are fabulous!!

But the best advice I can give is that everyone is different. What one person enjoys, another will not. If it looks interesting to you and you've looked at the menu, give it a shot. That's what vacations are for.
The SciFi was the only disappointing meal out of nine days of eating! Not too shabby whatsoever! And it wasn't 100% terrible. The appy's were quite good too.

I had a horrible dining experience there. The food sucked, the service sucked and the hostess were crabby. Everywhere else we felt like we were in this Disney biodome where people didn't PMS or have a bad day. It's annoying because the dining planners stress so much to show up early and to allow 60 minutes travel time, etc. and when we finally checked in 20 minutes early they were crabby and told us that wasn't reservation and that the wait may be an additional 25 mins past out time slot. There was no place to stand and my 2 year old was being a 2 year old;) so it made for a long 45 minute wait to get "worse than Ragu on over cooked pasta". We went during the free dining that year and they didn't really give us much of a choice on what we could order. I think there were 4 or 5 things we could pick from and they gave us a bread stick and called it the appetizer. Dessert was fine.

We've eaten here twice. Both times I got the spaghetti w/meatballs (only because I'm picky & didn't like many of the offerings) I personally didn't care for it at all- either time. I don't remember what my mom got, but she didn't care for it either. I don't like too much tomato sauce & I think they tend to overdo it (imo) so if that bothers you, I wouldn't suggest eating here. I just think there's so many better options to choose from at Disney World.

We ate @ Tony's on our trip ealier this month. I had the Beef and Spinach Cannelloni and DW had the Chicken Parmigiana. DW usually favors Chicken Parm, but found mine better.... me too :) A nice plus was that we were eating at the closest tables facing the Lady and the Tramp statue.

Overall probably our least favorite of the trip, but still good. The other TSes on our trip were San Angel Inn, Teppan Edo, Coral Reef and Boma.

We did CM for dinner and the food was terrible, we are doing it for breakfast this time around!!!

Well, we'll try it. I'm just going to worn DH :lmao:

I've avoided it for so many years, we just have to review it for ourselves.

Thanks for all your comments!

I ate there years ago and remember the meal as okay--obviously nothing memorable since it isn't one of our "must do's" but it was at least average. I seem to recall slow service but it was during a busy time so it wasn't surprising or unexpected. I say go and give it a try--I sat inside, but I like the idea of dining on the terrace and watching the world go by.:goodvibes

I just checked out the dinner menu on allears---WOW--the desserts sound marvelous:wizard:

We  loved Tony's! We ate there the second night of our trip a few weeks ago and enjoyed it so much we made a second adr for a few nights later.

Garden Grill we hated!
