Hello all.. we are going to Disney for a quick 2 days in June for a surprise for my son's birthday (going back for 8 days for plenty of other eating experiences)

anyway.. his birthday is on Friday.. and we are going to be in the MK so I wanted to stay close.. if you had to choose, would you eat at Tony's, Crystal palace or take the boat over to WL and eat at Whispering Canyon.

I want it to be fun for him since its his birthday, but I don't want to take too much time away from the park.. (BUT we are going to be at the park early so a few hours to sit and rest may be nice)

I haven't eaten at Tony's so I will comment on the other 2.

Both WCC and CP are my favorites. Both have very good food and a good atmosphere.
CP is handy not to leave the park, you don't have travel time. Plus the characters are great.
WCC is very cool, especially for kids. They do antics the kids join in on. But you do have a little travel time.

I would say you can't go wrong with either one.

I was not impressed with WC, but it really had to do with our server. It was probably one of the poorest servers we have ever had (and I am pretty forgiving, being a server myself). The food was okay, there were pony races, and the ketchup yelling stuff. I don't think I'd go back, but like I said, I think the server tainted or experience.
We have now gone to TTS twice and have great service both times. The food is Olive Garden food and it is so convenient. It is also nice if you time your ADR for one of the parades that passes by outside. If you go, ask for Isabella- great server!
CP was okay-your typical WDW buffet food. I still prefer TTS for a MK dining option.

If it is your sons b-day I would do CP (which is only 1 TS credit). We just did all 3 of these the week after Thanksgiving and WCC was our least favorite. Loved Tony's, great atmosphere, good food and great service. But at CP you have Pooh and Tigger and you certainly can't go wrong with that. The food and service at CP was equally good as well.

We just came back from a week at the world, and WCC was our least favorite. Everyone in our group of 10 said never again. The food was OK, the ketchup thing was funny the first time, but by the 20th time in an hour, it sort of lost it's appeal, you know?

We didn't like WCC last year when we went last year, so I'd vote against that one. On the other hand, I super-love CP and TTS! We go to CP every time and my 8 yo DD requested TTS for the second year in a row because of the bread and spaghetti!

If you want a more "fun" and upbeat meal with characters, choose CP. TTS is more quiet, but still a lot of fun! You can't go wrong with either!

We went to CP for lunch and Tony's for dinner last trip. While they were both good I would probably go with CP. The food is probably better and as other's have said it is a lot of fun.

I probably wouldn't go with Tony's for a birthday meal. The food is ok, but not fabulous, and the atmosphere is the same as just about any Italian Restaurant chain in the United States. Yeah, they have the Lady and the Tramp statue, and our server was very good when we went there, but I wouldn't pick it for a birthday meal for anybody.

I can't really give an informed opinion on the other two, because I've never eaten there. I would probably lean more toward Whispering Canyon Cafe personally, but if your son really likes Winnie-the-Pooh characters, then I'd probably go for that.
However, convenience is also an issue. A boat to the Wilderness Lodge could take anywhere from 15 minutes to over 30 minutes depending on where you are in the park at the time. If you were planning on leaving the Magic Kingdom after lunch, then it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but if you want to maximize park time, then I think Crystal Palace would be the best choice. I always overestimate the time I need to get to resort meals, and while the Wilderness Lodge is a charming resort, it's probably not where you'll want to spend your time with only 2 days at Disney.

We've never done CP for dinner (we only do breakfast buffets unless it is Biergarten or Cape May Cafe); we've always enjoyed our meals at Tony's. Whispering Canyon you could not pay us to go back to -- we found the skillet disgusting and the service awful. If you want a dinner, I'd go with Tony's.

thank you everyone.. I think we will take out WCC as a choice, I have really been hearing some bad things about it..
This is just a quick surprise trip for my son before we leave for a week cruise, (How can I NOT go to Disney if I am going to be in Florida!! :lmao:)

I think we may go with CP.. We have eaten at Tony's before.. I did like it, but I think the CP will be the best for the short amount of time that we are going to have..

thank you everyone!! : )

Love Tonys! The food at CP is too salty for me and the food at WCC is too greasy and fatty

Tony's and the CP are both good - i liked Tony's and was surprised on how many people said they did not like it - it was pretty good. We were on the dining plan and the wait staff was very nice!

The CP - our service was not that great - the food was alright and the characters jumped from table to table really quick - overall not to impressed with the buffet - we would probably do it again though seeing the limited dining in the MK.

We really enjoyed Tony's. We ate there for my 30th B'day. There were tables around with B'day decorations before the people got to the table...none for use :O( but that was ok. We did get an ice cream sunday as a gift, I guess. The food was really good and my DD3 loved it!!! The atmosphere is great too! Haven't tried the others so I can't say for sure which to choose, I did enjoy TTS though!!

I have good meals at all three. I wouldn't toake the time to leave MK for WCC though. CP is a buffet and a good one and Tony's has standard Italian fare. I'd be happy with any of the three.
