Tonight at 8!!

Yes, I watched that episode! Too funny. Must be nice to be a 21 year old student and have your parents buy you a $300,000 house!

The Disney show was wonderful! My family really enjoyed it. We sat around and talked about our holiday trip one year ago today! It has us thinking that maybe we should do our next trip in December 2010. :thumbsup2

Did anyone else notice they said WDW was 43 sq. miles. Used to be 47 sq. miles. It really bothers me that they are selling off the land Walt specificially chose for the Walt Disney World.

Maybe so, but the land they are selling is land that they never had any plans on developing. Consider that Disney has only so many resources at their disposal that selling off land to have others develop it is in everybody's best interest.

Am I the only loony tune here? LOL.
Not at all! I watched it tonight- and the part that got to me choked up was the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights- when he threw the switch and they showed the crowd oohing and ahhing! I can't wait- those are my absolutely favorite lights. We plan to see them 3x on this trip! :thumbsup2

I enjoyed the show but thought the host was annoying.

"That's insane."

"That's crazy"

Disney does everything perfect".

He drove me nuts. And the sequined tie......

Actually part of the land sold was already developed.

Disney sold the Eagle Pines Golf Course, which is where the Four Seasons and the fractional ownership homes are being built.

If you keep driving past Old Key West, Port Orleans French Quater and Riverside, you will run right into the new developement going on.

This is pretty musch smack in the middle of highly developed space and within just a few miles of the Magic Kingdom.

It's right next to Fort Wilderness.

+1 Kevin!

He also cranked out a couple "Disney does everything huge" or something close to that.

Is the host on other HGTV shows (I haven't watch a lot of HGTV lately)?

He won the show Design Star on HGTV a few seasons ago. As the winner, he was given his own show, Color Splash.

I watched it again tonight with my daughter. His delivery was very flat.

Of course, Samatha Brown is the BEST host of any Disney themed show! I can't wait to see her new special. :thumbsup2

I drive up through Bonnet Creek Parkway and I always thought that area looked barren. There was never much there except for the golf course. With the addition of the Four Seasons Resort, that area will start looking nicer and fuller. I can almost guarantee you that Disney would not have built in that area.

I'm watching it here and have a question. I was watching how they light up the castle and the music was playing and I was literally getting teared up. Am I the only loony tune here? LOL. I'll be there in 16 days - too late for DAP :( - and know I'm going to bawl when I see it in real life.

I teared up at Osborne ights, but I always do when I see them in real life. It did surprise me that it made me tear up when watching it on TV, though

I was referring to your original post stating that Disney sold off undeveloped land.

Disney did build in that area. They built a golf course and it' had been that way for almost 40 years.

Disney did not sell off undeveolped land. They sold off already developed land adjacent to their original theme park

As for the esthetic value of a Four Seasons and fractional ownership homes next to Fort Wilderness....well I guess that's in the eye of the beholder.

I loved that black tie.:rotfl: My husband wanted to know if anyone dresses like that in "real life".:rotfl2:

I guess my definition of undeveloped land is different than yours.

There were no buildings at the site where Four Seasons is building. I call that undeveloped. When I said Disney was selling undeveloped land, I meant that there weren't selling existing properties.

Also, the Four Seasons resort is over a mile away from Fort Wilderness (and almost 4 miles from the Magic Kingdom). Not something I would consider "next" to Fort Wilderness or Magic Kingdom.

I like to think that this project will add to Disney's value. That's a good thing (at least for me since I own a boat load of Disney stock).

As an organization matures, it gets to a point where it doesn't have the resources by itself to continue the growth it has sustained in the past. That may be why Disney is turning to third party participants in order to continue growing. I'm not saying this is the right or wrong way to accomplish this goal, just that Disney must believe it is the best way.

There was a clubhouse where they are building the Four Seasons. It contained the Sand Trap Bar and Grill.

I considered undeveloped land to be land that hasnt been developed in any way. Disney owns a great deal of undeveloped land.

I also consider a 1 mile distance to be next to Fort Wilderness...especially in a parcel of land that/s 47 square miles.

I guess we do have different ideas about distance and what undeveloped actually means.
