Planning a Feb 2012 trip and my son and I are both looking forward to a breakfast of Tonga Toast one morning during our stay.

I have the Quick Service Dining Plan. So, it looks like instead of having it at the Kona Cafe, we will have our Tonga Toast at Captain Cook's instead. (Unless I just decide to pay to eat at Kona Cafe anyway ).

But, I noticed that the Tonga Toast at Captain Cook's is without the Strawberry Compote and has sugar and cinnamon instead.

Has anyone had Tonga Toast at Captain Cook's without the Strawberry Compote? How does it compare to Kona Cafe?

Also, does anyone know if you can buy a side order or bacon or sausage at Captain Cook's? It's not on their menu as a side...

Thanks in advance!

i havent tried captain cooks tonga toast, but the one at kona without the strawberry compote is still awesome! I ate mostly half of it without the compote. Its so good without! You really cant go wrong with tonga toast, no matter what topping it is.

Sorry i dunno about the bacon side. :confused3

It's the exact same piece of toast, literally, just no strawberry compote. Still has cinnamon and sugar...it tastes very good with regular syrup which you can get at Capt. Cooks. I honestly can't remember about the sides.

I have had the Tonga Toast many times at Kona and have never used the Strawberry compote..in fact I skip the maple syrup as well. I think the Tonga Toast is delightful and plenty sweet as is...any additions make it too sweet for me.

Capt Cooks tonga toast is just as good at Kona, but now strawberry compote. You can get a side of bacon there, I'm not sure about sausage.

I had the Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe without the strawberry compote (I like strawberries, but whole, not as any kind of sauce) and it was amazing. I definitely didn't think anything was missing. DD #1 loved it, too...almost six months later and she still asks me to make it for her at home at least once a week for breakfast.

If you want the strawberry compote you need to eat at Kona. They won't do any to-go orders for breakfast, even for just the compote.
