Read on a website with Disney menus that Captain Cook's counter service at the Poly has Tonga Toast available for breakfast - anyone know if this is true? My DH is dying to try it, and this would be a great way since we already booked Kona for dinner.
Thanks!!

I ordered Tonga Toast at Captain Cook's. You don't receive the strawberry topping, as you would at Kona.

And I don't think you get the side of meat like you do at Kona's.

I am pretty sure when we ordered it last year we were able to get it with bacon or sausage.

Careful not to add too much syrup though. Tonga Toast is very sweet as it is.

Thanks. I hope you are right - that's what has been holding me back from doing it. I would think you need some meat carcass to cut all that sweetness. :goodvibes

Thanks everyone. Is it still good without this strawberry syrup?
I hate bananas and therefore have no personal experience with Tonga Toast, but friends have told me that not having the strawberry sauce is not a major loss. The dish is sweet enough without anything extra!

We've ordered this several times, and yes you can get a side of bacon or sausage with it.

I think it's good without the strawberry sauce. It's extremely sweet!

Just curious....how big is the portion? Can two people split it? We don't eat a big breakfast and will probably be eating most of our breakfast in CL lounge. Everyone says you have to try it once!

DH will eat it at CC in a pinch. But says what Kona serves is much better. That strawberry stuff is awfully good.

We always spilt the Tonga Toast. For us it too much goodness for just one person. One of us gets the Tonga Toast and another gets an egg platter. If we tried to eat that much Tonga Toast we would be  afterward.

It's gigantic. There are plenty of pictures of the dish served at Kona Cafe around the boards. Two average eaters can absolutely split one portion.

it was so sweet three of us (adults) could not finish one serving with no syrup, no strawberry sauce. Just "plain"...in fact we left at least 1/2 of it on the plate. WAY too sweet for us (and we love desserts, go figure.)
