I just love Tonga Toast  - it's my most favorite thing to eat when we are at WDW. The French Toast w/ bananas and cinnamon sugar makes my mouth water!! My DH tells me that I'm addicted, and I have to agree :teeth:

So, this is the Tonga Toast addiction thread - anyone else care to voice their addiction. :p

Hello, my name is DisneyDotty and I can't stop thinking about TONGA TOAST! :Pinkbounc
Warning: Do not attempt to eat an entire TONGA TOAST (said like John Belushi said "Toga! Toga!" in "Animal House") and then hit MK hard. You will not make it. :teeth:

A friend turned me on to Tonga Toast last October. Now every visit to WDW must include a trip to Kona Cafe just so I have get my fix.

I've found two recipes for Tonga Toast on the Internet. One does treat it like French Toast and the other doesn't. I'll have to learn for myself how they make it when I go in October.

I tried making it at home, but it wasn't the same.

My mouth is water now just thinking about it. Last trip was my first time and I think about it all the time now. Wish there was another place around here I could get it

My name is Lori and would pay ALOT of money for some Tonga Toast around here !!

My mom got me hooked on Tonga Toast on our first trip to WDW in 1976. It is my FAVORITE breakfast item. I crack up when I hear people say "It's too sweet". Hah!! To me there is no such thing as too sweet! I was in WDW in June and we did not make over to the Poly. I really felt like I missed out on one of my favorites. Oh well, just an excuse to plan another trip soon!!

Dear Tonga Toast,

It has been too long since our last time together. There's nothing like waking up to you, you are such a welcome way to start the day. You are always so sweet, I am so glad that I found you. I am particularly fond of how all I have to do is call when I want to see you. Women like that kind of reliability. I miss you dearly, and hope to see you soon.

Love, Crystal.

I couldn't agree more!! The Disney Magazine sent me the receipe last year and my DH tried making it for me. He did a great job, but it wasn't the same - even he said that. We agreed to just keep it as a special vacation treat and not make it at home.

Talk to you later!!

I must confess, I am an addict also! I have gone to have Tonga Toast, just about every trip since I 1st started going to WDW as a little kid in the 70's. And when November gets here, I'll be having it again!

Excellent!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

DH has never been to the Kona Cafe for breakfast before (we LOVE it for lunch and dinner!), I have only been there once for breakfast, so we will definitely be going there on our trip in October. I have a question; is the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes anywhere near as good as the Tonga Toast? I was thinking of having one of us order the TT and the other one order the pan cakes, and then sharing. :scratchin

Terry,

My DD and I were thinking about the same thing--one getting the Tonga Toast and the other getting the Pineapple Mac. pancakes and sharing.

So, anybody, how are the pancakes?

Kathy

I thought it was real love... but I divorced Tonga Toast when I met my new love at Boatwright's. You really should try their version--it's served with a strawberry sauce and is less expensive!

I really laughed when I read this!! I think you spoke on behalf of all of us!! ;)

Haven't Tried The Macadamia Nut Pineapple Pancakes At The Kona But I Will Next Trip. If You Go To POR And Eat Breakfast At Boatwrights Be Sure To Try The Sweet Potato Pancakes. Can't Wait To Get Back To WDW.

Okay, I confess I am one too! And I eat the whole thing with bacon! Can't wait to go back!

I've always wanted to compare/contrast the ones from Kona (or Poly room service), PO-R, and Rainforest Cafe. Sounds like a serious scientific question that deserves dedicated research.

Well, I haven't tried it yet...but, reading about it on these boards made me sign up. WE have PS for 9/24! hee hee

Go hungry - it's a tasty treat!! :goodvibes

So far my relationship with Tonga Toast is that of an online romance. I've drooled over pictures, but I anticipate the moment we touch lips, my toast and I. My thighs already jiggle  in fear of what will likely happen on October 2, 2005, 8:20 a.m. EDT. Not that I am counting the days, or anything....

::sigh::

Okay, this has got to stop. If my husband catches me reading this Tonga smut...We've already had words over Zebra domes. Might have to get out the Dole Whips...:rotfl: :rotfl:
