I've got my USA card for our TomTom, and have been trying to load up some destinations for our trip, but have hit a problem. However, I'm certainly no expert when it comes to using TomTom, so it's very possible I'm doing something daft!

I can find places using the street name or POI selections, but the zipcode selection doesn't seem to work :confused3 I f I try to go into postcode, everything freezes and then the machine closes down and re-boots.

Curiously, it actually says 'postcode' - is this right? I was expecting it to say 'zipcode'. I bought the card from an Amazon merchant and it arrived with all the TomTom logos and seals, so I thought it was the genuine article, but now I'm wondering ...

Any help appreciated.

I asked a similiar question a few weeeks ago and the replys I got was that in the us a zip code covers a huge area so its no good inputting a zip code only as its not like our postcode and will not bring you direct to the destination.
I am still to use my tom tom in the us so dont know if this info is correct but maybe why you not having any joy with the zip code!!

I know there ae others on here that will be able to tell you from experience - the one thing i have got from my many questions on how to use the tom tom is that it is really simple once u r there!!
Hope thats of some help but as i say someone will defo have a better idea than me !!

The first time we used Tom Tom I spent so many evenings at home beforehand entering all these favourites using the ZIP code, so when we got there it was already to go. It's not 100% accurate how you expect as the ZIP covers a large area. We all remember our first day going to EPCOT and ending up at the CM's entrance, the guy on the gate asked us if we used Tom Tom to get there:laughing:
If you're going to set-up faves you may find that most of the places you want are already a POI (point of interest). With regards to Disney, we used Tom Tom to get ourselves onto property then found their signage much easier to follow:thumbsup2

Thanks!

So it sounds as though, even if my postcode / zipcode option isn't functioning, I'm not actually missing much! Guess I'll stick to the address and POI options instead :)

Best bet is to use poi, go to http://www.ttsatnav.net/ and download the file for florida.make sure you unzip it befor putting onto your tomtom, site used to caled ttpoimshare

the postcode thingy is set in the tomtom as its a uk one, wouldent wory about that, the software for user screen is totaly differnt to the maps.If you bought a tomtom in states and brought it home it would ask for zip code for overhere. You can download the software to do it but why bother
