TomTom 500

Hi All,

We want to take our TomTom 500 with us next week. We have bought the extra SD memory and just need the maps now. We have been on to the TomTom web site and we really don't need the whole of the southeast region that completely covers Tennessee, North Carolina etc., we only want the Florida bit. Anyone know if/how we can just buy the Florida Map?

I have and use TomTom but use the TomTom softeare on my PDA. I bought the southeast area but just loaded the Florida maps.
It works great with no problems, but I had to buy the southeast region.

There is no standalone map for Florida - as Paul said, you have to either buy the one for the South Eastern United States at €59.95 or you can buy individual town maps, such as Orlando for €4.95. You can find them on www.tomtom.com under Plus Services / Maps. The problem with the town maps is their area of coverage - I downloaded the Orlando one on our last trip to test it. The map was excellent EXCEPT it basically ended at AK to the South West, so AKL and Sherberth Road etc was off map, as was south of the US192. To the west coverage ended soon after the junction of US192 with I-Drive, so Wallmarts for example was off the coverage area. So...you either buy the Orlando one for €4.95 and save money but live with coverage gaps, or you could possibly buy 2 or 3 to cover those gaps at €4.95 each, but you might have to juggle between maps, or you just swallow the €59.95 and buy the S.E. USA maps. In hindsight I would recommend simply buying the S.E. USA maps.

Hi,

Thanks for the advise everyone. We have bought 3 maps that should cover all the places we want to go. They are very cheap at 4.95 euros each (not as cheap as that Ebay item Adz1984!), we bought Orlando, Tampa and Kissimmee maps. There may be gaps as mentioned aboved but hopefully we will manage.
