We did this ride on our 1996 trip and loved it. It was our very first stop one of the MK mornings.
We didn't do it on our last visit because the lines always seemed very long. But we're determined to do it next month on our trip.
I don't believe this is a Fastpass attraction. What has your experience been? Does anyone do it as a "first-ride"? I hate to do that, because Fantasyland attractions are what we usually like to concentrate on first thing in the morning. Has anyone waited on this line when it's long? What was the wait like?
Also...our 6-year-old was in Mom's belly on our '96 trip! Does anyone know if she'll be able to drive one of the cars? (With dad at her side?) She is a tall girl for 6!
Also..can 10-year-olds go by themselves?
Thank you!!

Hiya... Lets see if I can tackle these.

Does anyone do it as a "first-ride"? I hate to do that, because Fantasyland attractions are what we usually like to concentrate on first thing in the morning.

I have done this as a first ride. My son is now 10, and as such would rather run to Tomorrowland to ride Buzz Lightyear and the Speedway, than go to Fantasyland. We did both these rides at Early Entry then went on to Fantasyland. We managed to get in almost all of Fantasyland (we didn't do Teacups, Carousel, and Dumbo) with the longest wait being 20 minutes for Peter Pan and this was Easter week. (Read VERY crowded)

Has anyone waited on this line when it's long? What was the wait like?
I have waited on the line when it was 30 minutes. If they have ALL the lanes open the line moves, so you at least feel like you are getting places.

Does anyone know if she'll be able to drive one of the cars? (With dad at her side?) She is a tall girl for 6!
Yes. They will let her drive with Dad next to her. :) She'll love that.
Usually they steer and you control the Pedal. ;)

Also..can 10-year-olds go by themselves?
Yep, if he is 52"! My son did drive by himself (10) for the first time in April. He was one happy camper. :teeth:

Have a fun trip!!

I would think a strong ten year old could. Having said that, my thin 10 year old daughter could not push the gas pedal hard enough throughout the entire ride, causing a huge traffic jam. It was very embarassing for her. A cast member had to come along and stand along side of the car, pushing the pedal for her, until she got to the end. It might be best to try it with and adult first.

I've got a question; maybe y'all might know the answer :)

I read in one of the tourguides that it's alright to actually slide your little one over behind the wheel after you've left the loading area, as long as you control the pedals.

Has anybody else read that, or even tried it?

I'm really not brave enough to (hate to have a ticked off CM after me), but my three year old would be absolutely STOKED if I let her "drive"!

Seems to me that the VERY AGE GROUP that would just ADORE this ride are the ones who get stuck as passengers :)

Hi: When we were there two weeks ago, just about everyone was having their little one sit behind the wheel right off at the loading area, without doing any kind of "sliding around." Needless to say, my DD5 steered our car while I kept the gas pedal floored, and DS8 was actually steering and doing the gas pedal both while DH just sat in the passenger seat. In fact, one of the CM's asked to take a picture for us at the loading area with DD5 sitting at the driver's seat, smiling big with excitement.

Yoko!
That's awesome news! :)

I see we're going to have to hit this one first!

We nearly always try to do this first or second because the gas fumes later in the day, when the line is longer and the sun is hotter, is enough to give me a headache. Also, because the boys definatley want to do this one more than once! We let them steer while we push the pedals. ANd, I did this one while pregnant once. Obviously, I wasn't behind the wheel.

We went in May and my then almost 3 yr old ds got right behind the wheel. He wouldn't have it any other way. It is just fine for the little ones to drive with an adult pushing the gas pedal. I did have to help him with the steering once we got going, but he did just fine.

too cool :)
this was one of those silly Disney things I've been semi-fretting over--glad to hear it's fine--our little boy and girl will be thrilled

and thanks for warning abou the fumes--pollution's the kind of thing you want to leave behind on a vacation
