IMO the jury is still out on global warming, but easing back on consumption must be good for the soul -if not the earth. This is why at our house we try to do things that make sense in the area of conservation; but at the same time we don't have a cow if someone accidentally leaves a light bulb on.

I'm with you. November was our first winter month in our new home and we enjoyed running the spanking brand new gas heater. When our natural gas bill came in December, we suddenly became conservationists - as in "conserving our money" so we can continue to eat. Our use of fossil fuels has been much more limited since then.

I would and I support this 100%... and I will bring it up to my professors, but sadly I have no real power to do this since I will be on campus =(. I will spread the word though as much as I can!

I am a HUGE supporter of doing what you can. I really, really hope to go into environmental and green design when I graduate!

No offense, but I don't see how this would help at all, considering that it costs more in power just to turn some applicances on than to just keep them running. More energy might be wasted than conserved in this 5 minute "blackout."

Global warming activists don't bother to look at the facts, the only thing that matters is that everyone feels better afterwards.
