It's a long story you don't want to hear, but my stepfather and sister were both ski instructors. I don't ski. I went one time...looong story.
So, I moved back to CO three years ago. I have played with the idea of taking my boys skiing, but haven't. I can't ski due to an ankle injury years ago (2 surgeries, a month in a wheelchair, 6 months on crutches...serious), but I saw that Vail is doing free concerts the first week of December.
One is Dwight Yoakam...I haven't seen him for years and would love to go. My sister said she'd join us. I found a hotel room...not fancy...for only $105 if I prepay 30 days in advance. Then I went looking for ski lessons/rentals/etc. The cheapest I can find for one day is $183 per boy.
You Dis folks will understand the mental leap my mind made: $470 not including meals...for one day??? Wouldn't it be better to put that money into savings for a Disney trip? I guess I could just rent equipment for my boys and ask my sister to teach them in return for paying for her lift ticket. The thing is, that doesn't save a whole lot. The $183 includes lift tickets, gps trackers, the lesson, and rentals.(And, that's at Copper Mountain, not Vail!)
So, I got to thinking that maybe some of you might have tips and tricks to get better prices on skiing. I'd appreciate any help anyone can offer!
Thanks!
