Tomfoolery at Whispering Canyon Cafe

For those of you who have never been, please remember that not all of these things happen each time, and it doesn't always happen the same way. Each server is different, they are basically unscripted, some are really into the character and some are not. It also depends how much each family is into it and how much they seem to "demand" some of these actions. The more demanding parties seem to put off the servers. Go with the flow, enjoy the whole atmosphere and play along with your server as much as you want and as much as they are willing. I guess my point is, don't go in expecting all this stuff you have read about here and on other threads, you will just set your self up for disappointment. Go in expecting a fun, enjoyable and entertaining time during your meal and if more happens to you and your party then you get more than you expected, if not then you were still entertained during your meal.

My husband got the really big tea and made it a point to drink it all and ask for a refill. Our server was very surprised and held up the empty glass for everyone to see and said, "Hey everybody! This man finished all of his tea! If you see him in the pool later tonight, I would NOT jump in with him if I were you!!" :lmao:

The first time we were there DH asked where the bathroom was. Our server gave him directions to a tree outside! :lmao:
We heard them give someone directions to the bathrooms right outside of the Magic Kingdom. :rotfl:

OK now I'm worried. DH doesn't like any tomfoolery at mealtime (no happy birthday singing, silly hats, etc.) and I already made an ADR for Whispering Canyon. Is there a 'no fun' area of the restaurant that we might request when we get there?

when you check in request the library and just say you want a quieter area.
It won't be a total "no fun" area but it is quieter.

a couple of years ago my teenage son was bothering his sister and the waitress gave him a broom and made him sweep the restaurant, and announced if any other server had a mess to call him he was running all over the place with the broom!! still :rotfl2: now

Several years ago we were there with our DD and her best friend. They were both 17. Our waitress asked their age, and when they said 17, she said "Why that's marryin' age!" My DH said that they were picky when it came to guys...one of them wanted to marry a doctor and the other wanted to marry a lawyer. About 10 minutes later, the waitress showed up with two teenage boys. She said "This here's Steve and this here's Charlie, and Steve's going to be a doctor and Charlie's going to be a lawyer!" (I just used these names...don't remember their real names.) Then she made the four of them go out into the center of the dining area and the guys had to get down on one knee and sing "You are My Sunshine" to the girls!
