Tom tom help

I had a tomtom that got replaced because it was defective, so I put the Florida tom tom map onto that but if I put it on the tom tom it tells me to take it out, has anyone got an idiot proof way of getting it to work

are you putting map in when its turnd on,you have to put map in when its turned off

You also need to into change prefrences, scroll to manage maps, then switch map.

I take it the map is on a SD card ?

I went onto tomtom home, put in an empty memory stick (the one from the old tomtom devise) copied the maps on it. It seemed to work but when I turn on the tomtom it comes up with a picture of a memory card comes out of the machine with a cross on it what does that mean and how do I get the blasted thing to work.

If it's a blank card, it needs a lot more than just the map put onto it.

You need all the files that were on the original card as well as the map. This is to put off people downloading dodgy maps....

So I need to copy the files on the original card onto a new memory card and then add the map to that? Why couldn't it just say that on the help page!!!!!!!!!! I'll go and buy a bigger sd card does it have to be a special card or will any sd card work?

I bought a 1Gb SD card when I copied the European maps onto it after backing up and copying the original files

I did it got the map working and can take my tom tom with me! Thank you got more help than I did from the tom tom site.
