It’s a raft - no bridge nor boat.

You take one of the rafts. It's a very short trip over. We really enjoy hanging out on the island, it's such a nice get away right in the park.

Yes there is but lets be clear to the OP this is not a bridge that connect the island to the "main land" its just a bridge along one of the paths on the island.

We love Tom Sawyers Island. Very nice place to relax!

We missed it last trip. We were on line to take the raft over when the storm clouds came out of no where and closed the island. It didn't reopen for the rest of the day (the storms lingered until after the listed closing). This was our last MK day.

We are making this a priority for our next trip. Should be a good way to escape some of the crowds on July 3!

Does that restaurant ever open up? We loved it back in the day when the snack shack was open and you could buy bird food...(I know, not PC today, but we loved feeding the birds.)

We are going to WDW in April. I remember going to Tom Sawyers Island years ago with my DGC who are now in their 20's.
I'll be going this time with 3 DGS and I'm thinking maybe we would go to Tom Sawyers Island.
What does it have to offer, of course I can't remember from years ago. DGS are 15, 13 and 11, do you think they would enjoy it?

I think your 11 year old would find its cave tunnels neat but the teens may be underwhelmed by it. My kids were 6 and 10 when we visited and both liked it but I think it is best for elementary or preschool age kids to enjoy some free time in contrast to being so controlled in the lines and crowds elsewhere in the park.

Yes, it's a great place to eat a packed lunch. There are tables/chairs in a covered area outside of Aunt Poly's (a snack/small carry-out area that is rarely open).

I'm looking at the afternoon on July 3, and want to make sure we finish lunch on time. How much time should I budget?

The last time we were there, it was open until close to dusk.
It is a fun place for younger kids.
As adults, it has some quieter areas to sit and enjoy.
