We would love to do Tom Sawyer Island one last time when we go in December for a Christmas Party.
If they let us in at 4:00 on party night, any idea how long the island would stay open on a December evening? Just trying to figure out if it will fit in the plan

Tom Sawyer Island is closing permanently after July 6, 2025.

It was just announced that it will be closed on July 7 to begin the reimagining of the area. It will not be available in December at all. Sorry.

I hope to get there one day, and hopefully it’s still there. Thank you!

I don't know that they will ever come for it at DL. That park's a bit more classic, and while they do add to it, I can't see a major change like that happening. People would really freak out there too!

I won't miss the island, but I am sad about the paddle wheeler. It is too bad they can't refurb it and use it in one of the lakes, like to the new Lakeshore Lodge.

Well, the Liberty Belle riverboat runs on a track, so it would not be capable of operating in open water. It might have been nice if they just parked it somewhere in the water that will remain. Even stationary, it could be a good meet & greet spot.

I just saw it pointed out that the new Piston Peak area will have barrel bridges! They are very clearly on the map. That's nice at any rate.

Yes, that is why I said that the Liberty Belle should be refurbished (put in a regular hull).

That place is full of “when the kids were little” nostalgia for me…sitting on a bench with my husband while they zoomed by every few minutes in opposite directions. Sometimes those are the best memories!
