Have been to WDW many times, but never once been to Tom Sawyer Island. This coming June, after a 5 night cruise, we are planning on visiting Disney for a few days. DS will be approx 7 & 1/2 so I am figuring this would be a perfect attraction for him. What are some highlights, what can mom do while DS is adventuring? About how much time would you plan for the experience?

Honestly we're not big fans of Tom Sawyer Island. The kids always rope us in to going. When we get there, they whine of being bored, and it takes up at least a half an hour before we get back.
At 7, there is one thing your DS might enjoy. The boat driver sends everyone on a hunt and the winners supposedly get a prize. Kids that age and older really take it to heart and set out on the island with real purpose.
