Can some please tell me about toll booths on the Florida turnpike are they manned or tag only? Also on 429? We usually take the toll free routes but it works out better this route if we use the roads with tolls.

We were surprised last trip in '21 to find that the I-75/91/I-4 route from the north was now entirely tag photos.

If you have an EZpass, it will work in FL. FL was added to that syatem not long ago, probably because there are so many East Coast snowbirds.

You can tell we're Disney addicts because we bought one of those on a NJ/NY trip last fall after learning we could use it to get us to WDW even though it does nothing for us where we live.

We are local and travel those roads regularly. Although we have a sunpass we have seen a continued reduction in the number of manned toll booths. It seems that just about everything is switching over. You should plan on encountering unmanned tolls when you drive around.

We were glad to get rid of our Sunpass so we could just use our EZpass in Richmond and Florida. Except I realized we almost never take the local toll roads.:D

I'm just the opposite. I had to pay a fee to maintain my MD EZpass. When SunPass came out with SunPass PRO I got rid of the EZpass. The PRO is good up and down the east coast. I actually had a SunPass for several years before we moved to Florida permanently.

And this year, the SunPass gets frequent travelers (well, toll users) a 50% discount for more than 35 tolls per month. (I have an EPass and get it, too.) I am not sure if the address tied to the pass has to be a FL one. The FDOT's press release says "Florida-based transponders" not Florida addresses.

"Under the Toll Relief Program, drivers of two-axle vehicles who use toll transponders, such as SunPass or other Florida-based transponders, and have accounts in good standing with 35 or more qualifying toll transactions per month will receive a 50 percent credit to their account. There is no need to apply for the toll relief as credits will be applied automatically to each qualifying account."

I was on 429 and the Florida Turnpike last week, and both were unmanned.
