toll prices

I know there are two ways we can drive from sanford to disney, but am I correct in saying that even though it costs, the toll roads are better for first timers.

Does anyone know how many toll prices we have to pay and how much they cost??

I bought a detailed map which shows all of the toll points from Sanford and it looks like there are 5 tolls at a cost of either $1.25 or $1.50. It says in total that the cost is less than $10.

I think taking the toll road is quicker adn with less traffic than using the I4.

I wouldn't recommend I4 for first timers personally, especially straight from the plane!!
After a few trips driving I STILL don't really like I4.

We drove along the Beachline (I think) when we picked people up from Sanford, goes past MCO and straight towards LBV and Downtown Disney

Maybe see how much the Toll Pass is when you get the car, would make things easier too

I would really recommend the 417. I4 is ok but the 417 is much lighter with traffic. There are about four or five tolls - we usually get change at the first one - I am pretty sure they take up to $20 bills. Just make sure you keep a dollar or so in change just incase you hit an unmanned toll - they are usually on exit routes. I always keep about 8 quarters in the car but I am fussy about that sort of thing!

It won't cost you very much at all.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to do this from Sanford, but this year when I rented from Alamo at MCO we had the option of a toll pass ... $10 for the week, valid throughout the state, meant wherever we went we just went through the express lanes, very easy (no need for change!!)

Can you purchase these for longer, we are going for 3 weeks and it would be great to get one, make things a lot easier I'm all for making things easier on a stressful holiday

I'd recommend the tolls for a first timer yes.

One of the bad things about the I4 is that although you get loads of warnings, the right hand lane (where you'll feel happiest to start with anyway) frequently filters off meaning you've got to plan ahead and move left in plenty of time.

For that alone I'd go toll where at least you won't really be competing with locals for road space.

I'd recommend getting change from the airport before you set off - we had a problem with having no change and arriving at an unmanned toll booth. Not sure why but DH seemed to think he had no option other than to drive through and it was an awful start to our trip
The car company were pretty reassuring though and in the long run there were no consequences - just a bit
