Told tickets no good?

So I received a pair of disney world park tickets from a family friend for upcoming trip. We registered them online and linked them to our account but received a call from our friend later today saying that the tickets are no good now but won't elaborate why. I'm a little confused and told him we registered them and they seem to work fine but he insists they will not work at the park.

We were originally told they expire 3/1 and say: 1DAY (1 THEME PARK) COMPLEMENTARY on the back with a date of 9/21/2015..... has anyone ever heard of such a thing? I don't know the origin of the tickets but am assuming they must be from the parks or something if they are complimentary? I was under the assumption that if they register on mydisneyexperience.com they are good?

Cast members get two "Complementary" tickets in the winter and then again in the summer. They can be given to anyone to use but I'm not sure for how long they are good for. I would think if they were fake, counterfeit, or expired tickets My Disney Experience would have rejected them.

That's seams like a really odd situation. I totally understand if the friend gave them to you and then found out they wouldn't work. But he/she absolutely owes you an explanation. I know you probably don't want to push it as they were trying to do something merging nice for you, but I'm confused as to why they wouldn't just tell you.

I'm surprised you were able to link them to your account. When we had complimentary tickets we won in an auction we had to go to guest services to get them activated? Did your friend give them to you at no fee. If that's the case you've really lost nothing but you might have to buy actual tickets
